When you get the car appraised if they send you to a shop then make sure you bring everything that fell off the car or whatever. I screwed that up when i got sent to an appraiser, I didn't bring my bumper that fell off the car cus it didnt fit in my car and it kept on fucking up my headliner.
The total for my repairs was like 1200 bucks which they cut me check for. But I didn't bring my bumper with me that day so it was something my lawyer had to pursue for because that was another 500 bucks, they said they would pay whatever in addition it cost to my bodyshop. But since I'm going to school I couldn't afford to lose my car so it took me 3 months before I could bring my car in, and by then they refused to pay for it. But I ended up paying like 500 bucks for a new bumper, fixing the bumper mounting brackets and fixing minor fender damage to have it aligned and painting everything. So in the end I made 700 bucks but theres still damage, not too serious though. I could always just fix the rest of the damage and dents myself, prep the car and save another 300 bucks in addition to that and have the car repainted.
So make sure you try to get everything fixed asap and don't lag even though the insurance company will
If your neck hurts go see a docter and if it's serious get a lawyer to handle everything for you.

I mean, I cant take my sony deck, my sub, amp all that out. I will put back in the stock stereo. I will take out my m3 mirrors, and put on the stock driver side mirror ONLY. I will remove the fogs, I hope i can get away with that. There will be a gaping hole where the fog light button is. I will also remove the spoiler, and the alarm w/ remote start. I would like to keep the honda manual but i doubt i can. Do you think i can get away with what i listed?
I also want to replace my rims with steelies. And see what other parts ppl on this board would buy off me w/o me gettin in trouble with insurace. It makes me mad that these bastards will take someone's car like this, and give them some measly amount for it.Last edited by i97supratti; 05-22-2005, 12:27 PM.

I hope you didn't strip your car *before* the adjuster came. You're supposed to have it look as nice as possible for him so he gives you more, then you have to argue with him some and show a few receipts... threaten with a lawyer if he doesnt go higher. Then when he goes back to the insurance company and they still declare it a total loss, strip everything aftermarket and give them a stock car. You don't usually have to give them rims, they just haul it onto a flatbed anway. Or don't do any of that and just tell them you want the salvage rights, and they'll just deduct it from your check and you keep the wreck. Part out time. Have fun.
Oh, and get yourself to a chiropractor and a lawyer. Me and my girl had to go to chiropractic therapy for like a month and a half, but we got almost 9K after the lawyer took his third of the pain and suffering check. Also, AZ law says that whatever *my* insurance pays in medical bills the other guys insurance has to pay me. So my medical bills were like 5K that my insurance paid (thats for 2 people mind you), so that was 5K in my pocket right away... then add pain and suffering. Crazy huh? That small accident cost the other guys insurance company over 15K total including the rental car. He was a shuttle driver for a large hotel chain though...
Accidents suck, but accidents just like yours can really clear up some money problems. Just be patient it takes a few months to get your check (I waited almost 5).

I didnt strip it when he came. I am a somewhat moral person and a horrible liar and have no intentions of pulling off insurance fraud so i wont bother with any medical agenda. I will try to get the most for my car, but i was told that if its declared totalled i get a check for the car's value AND i get to keep the car. I guess NY laws are different.

Edit: I think I just posted this in the wrong thread about your same wreck... oops.
Hey man if your in pain go. Its not fraud if you really do hurt. My girl and I found out that because she had an extra disk and a wierd problem similar to mild spine ebiphida (sp?) her injuries were far greater than mine. She couldn't sit or sleep in one position for more than 5 minutes without getting really bad muscle spasms.
I just had a really stiff neck and shoulders for 2 or 3 weeks. I had to go an extra 2 weeks to make sure my spine set correct (read: so the doctor could make more money).
I'm just saying, if it hurts enough that you can't sit still long or move your head correctly, go get it checked out. you'd be amazed at how much damage you can do to the muscles in your neck in a small accident like that. And typical "pain and suffering" without even arguing your case is about 1x to 2x whatever your medical bills are... just a rule of thumb.
It's cool you don't have to pay the salvage fee on your car to keep it though. And I'm sure NY laws are different. Insurance in AZ is crazy high compared to other states because of our laws and how much companies have to pay in accidents like mine.Last edited by evol90accord; 05-27-2005, 01:36 PM.

Car was declared a total loss. The prices for repair were estimated to be $2,392. Supposedly my car's value is less than that, so they are going to give me the value of the car I paid 2200 dollars for the car, 500 for a tranny, 400 to change the timing belt and water pump, and I WILL NOT let them rob me like this. It is memorial day, so their Total Loss Dept. is closed, but tomorrow it's on. I have receipts for all the work done to my car. I will threaten to take it to a private appraiser and/or get a lawyer. Can anyone give me advice on what else to do? If i tell them i will not accept their measly payment, then will they reconsider? Should I contact my own insurance(Allstate) and ask for help? I filed the claim under the ***'s insurance (StateFarm). How much would it cost to go to a private appraiser and to get a lawyer for this type of case?

I am just one person, I do not know if there is much I can do. But you can be sure as FUCK that if they take my car from me they will take it with 5 quarts of antifreeze in the crankcase and I might be tempted to remove the driver's seat and carpet, take a shit there, and bolt the carpet and seat back.

But I thought you already said they would allow you to keep the car when you got the insurance payment? Do you get to keep the salvage rights or do you have to buy them?
