need to know price, and other such information. the price wil determine whether or not you should buy it, i wouldnt pay more then 1500 for it, cause of the needed work...good luck

Definitely need more info to give a good opinion. Is it you first car? I have to ask because well, because I have to. My first car was a 93 LX with 222K and a very crappy looking body. But I had so much fun in it (being a manual and all). Head gasket? It's not terribly difficult to replace, but at the same time not easy unless you do it very often. Where did the headers go? Last time I checked all CB7's came with headers? That sounds a little fishy to me . I don't know. Take it for a test spin and pick out every little nit picky thing you can find and weigh them against things you find good about the car. It's almost preferable to get a 92-93 IMO, but solely because I like the bumper change and the lack of coil problem. That's a common problem in our cars as well. Doesn't come up often, but if it hasn't been replaced in 178k, then you should factor in the cost of replacing that as well. Does it leak ANY fluids? Does the AC work? Is there a mis-fire or very slight hesitation before stepping on the accelerator? Is the body in decent condition? Does water leak into the trunk? Pop it open on a dry day and lift back the carpet cover and look for places that look like flowing water was once there. Does it have the spare? If manual, how's the clutch? If automatic, Does it smoothly slide into drive? All these are questions you need to go through. There's more, but I'll let someone else chime in with the rest .

BTW, you need to be VERY specific when you post a question like this. 2 sentence descriptions and a one sentence reply doesn't give anyone near enough info to help you out. We're here to help each other out, but as in this case, we are blinded by the vagueness of your question.

header my friend .....HEADER...if ya didnt know my first post was sarcastic......cb7's have a header wich is 1.......headers = 2. get it? if the header is leaking u just need an exhaust manifold gasket.....very easy.

well I just bought a 93 four door lx. Some of the trouble areas I've noticed since having it are exhaust, axles, and check for leaks. window regulators as well, see if all the windows go up and down straight. I've had mine a few weeks now. I paid 1800 for it. ran good but the exhaust was loud. I thought it was because of the generic muffler it had on it but it was actually rusted out in the center section. the cat was also melted. So since I've had it I put a new cat on it, and a whole new exhaust. I've also replaced the drivers side window regulator and need to replace the right rear. I've also installed new axles on both sides. both were clicking really bad but I couldn't hear it when I test drove it because of the loud exhaust. FWIW though I've still spent way less than my original budget for a daily driver was so I'm still happy with the purchase. the car runs good and the ac works. Just check all the basic stuff. check for any records your teacher may have. Timing belt especially, if it's an auto check for regular service on that as well.

Avoid rust if at all possible.

It's a bigger headache than its worth.

If I was smart I woulda avoided it in the first place.

for $1000 make sure its in running operation. get a compresion test to see if the car burns any oil and check the tranny for any leaks and check at what rpms does it shift while u are driving it normal.....
other than that there is nothing that is gona tell u how the car is. oh well check the back bumer if it has a black dust on it near the mufler that would say that the car is running ritch burning oil etc..... u can notice this a lot on the cars that have bright colours.
are we there yet are we there yet are we there yet

haha yea rust is a bish, rust is very depressing to look at trust me new qtr panel replacment is a must if your gonna deal with rust the size of mine haha.
if your shop class or whatever has a lift, then lift up the car and check under there for any signs of anything that might come up as a problem in the future.
