We need more FAQ's & a newbie question forum

Contrary to what everyone says regarding new repetitive questions, info is not that easy to find...I think we need FAQ's regarding these topics, talking about what's available, what's been done, what people are trying to do, etc...I remember Maxima.org and a couple of the related sites having SICK FAQ's, which were really simple, to the point and full of links on more detailed info. I'm down to help...here are some suggestions.

All-motor- Bolt on peripherals, head swaps, internals
Turbo- DSM stuff, which manifolds fit, electronics options
Suspension- What's available, how to start out, front UCA problems, a good, well documented install DIY, a spring/drop/spring rate chart, etc.
Brakes- ROH discussion, 5-lug swap, NSX caliper swap, etc.
JDM- what's available, differences, past and current trends.
Racing- drag racing, auto-x, stuff to get, how to get started, etc.

Also, I think we should get a huge product list in each category w. pros and cons of each...that would save a lot of time and questions in the future. I think I'm gonna start on some suspension stuff. Anyways let's talk, what do you think?

personally i think that's impossible, as it depends on what the person wants at the time, and how much money they have. but, the issues are somewhat discussed in the lowering faq 101.

not sure what to discuss besides the fact that it makes future brake changes easier.
and of course it's already been written over at accordinglydone.com- nothing wrong with referring members over there, and i think it's inappropriate to just copy their things, and post them here.

discussed in the legend brake swap faq. and of course there's the cost factor as well.

    90/91 versus 92/93 differences
add to those, there isn't much difference between the usdm and jdm accords, as 1. some "jdm" accords were made here in the u.s. and shipped to japan 2. not all "jdm" cars are rhd 3. some options they had that seemingly weren't available here (for which there is a thread, but it is not stickied).

i've written a number of faq's (jdm headlight, red/clear taillight, running lower offset wheels on our cars, what seats work in our accords, ultimate front lip faq, took the pics for cpmike's trunk swap diy), stickied them, and people STILL ask. and they're not always new members either. i remember the day after i made the red/clear faq, someone asked "why doesn't anyone sell red/clears for 92 coupes?" it's disappointing and irritating after you spend some time (assuming you actually take the time for the faq to be logical and have a decent amount of pictures that help complete the story).

add to that, for many of the labor intensive projects, it's hard to break from what you're doing to take pics, and you're hands may or may not be dirty, and you may or may not be good at taking properly exposed pictures, and you may or may not be good at editing those photos so they convey the story.

faq's are great... but it's almost guaranteed that people will continue to ask the questions that are in them.

edit: if you don't think the information is there, make it be out there, as in write an faq. that's what i did. "don't talk about it, be about it."

I know those FAQ's are there, just like I know about the other ones at AD...but they are too long. The lowering FAQ is like 3 pages, and it kind of addresses things in a very indirect way; I mean all it has to really say is stuff like springs with their drops, prices and recommended shocks, what shocks we have available, what full coilovers we have available, the problems with sleeves, etc...very, very to the point and basic, with a possible link at the top of the thread to each question. Rather than have everything in different threads, why not just make 'The JDM Accord FAQ', and do it like that? That's what I mean...we have a lot of info, but it's not organized well, even for people who are here everyday and know their stuff (in my opinion). Not to bash the mods or anything, as you guys have a tough job and do it well, but I wanna help organize the info; maybe help in making a data or tech info collection.

i'll just come out and say it, but that sounds either like laziness, bullshit, or both. how can an faq be too long?!?!?!?!?!!?!?? that's utter crap. the more detailed it is, the more information that's going to be there.

regardless of how few or how many questions one puts in an faq, people still ask the same questions or end up coming with a new one. a person can not predict every question that's out there, but can try to answer the questions that are asked over and over again.

what should a lowering faq have other than that information??!?!!!!?!? those are the basic questions that people ask, and they're answered. yet, people still ask "what kind of coilovers are out there?"

it sounds like many people want things handed to them/spoon fed to them, rather than have to search. if you want something like that, you make it. that's what i did for my faq's, and that's what other people have done for theirs. again, going around asking for someone to do it sounds lazy.
