    Rip Cb7

Not sure how many people saw my latest transmission problem, short of swapping it out, I have exhausted just about everything that can be done to make it shift again, I don't think it will help but my mom wants me to try the last two things before she goes to the junkyard. For now, I'm mobile again, through my church contacts and my brothers many connections, we acquired a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer.

Yea, not looking forward to that, but we needed something to get around in and I'm not going to turn down a free car.

Was the SUV cheaper than a used transmission? I had two transmissions fail on my sedan, it wasn't much work to swap them out.

My friend's had a few of those Explorers. I think every one of them ended up losing something related to the diff/transfer case/CV joints.

She stated that the SUV was free. If I were in her position, I would take the SUV too. And, try to hang onto the cb to fix it at a later date. I believe she said she is going to try a couple more things to get the cb going. However, she obviously needed some sort of transportation and the SUV will provide more than that.

I am glad your church was able to step up and provide you with a vehicle. It's truly inspiring to see that there are still good people out there willing to help someone in need of it.

Yes, the SUV was cheaper lol FREE <3 HAHAHAHA

it may or may not be possible to hold onto it living in this neighborhood, they tow uninsured and untagged vehicles in a heartbeat if they think they can make money off of it. Now, this in its current condition, they likely wouldn't be able to get anything for but ya never know. I don't WANT to get rid of it but to keep it insured/tagged, may be impossible for us and not having those, they'll tow it.

Will it get towed if it's covered? I know that makes all the difference where I live. I'll get fined if I have an unregistered car in my own driveway, but if I cover it, it doesn't matter.

Sucks that you didn't manage to fix it, but at least the Moutaineer is a decent truck. Looks to be in good shape for its age!

If you end up being able to store the CB7, you could always start slowly working on a 5 speed conversion. That's the best way to fix a problematic automatic!

Regardless, I hope you stick around here. You're always welcome, as I'm sure you know. CB7 or not.

I remember plates and transferring registration being somewhat expensive...

I don't know about that Deever, I could probably do that. Of course I'll still be around even if I am not able to keep a CB7.

Well, it probably varies, from state to state, I have a tag I can transfer, it will be 152 and change

At least the engine shouldn't give you troubles if the rest of the truck is as good as the outside looks. Very reliable in my experience. V8 or V6 though? V6 gas mileage isn't too shabby, I think mid-20s.

Wed3k, um, FREE? Would you turn it down if you had no other choice? We were stuck. I have never liked Ford's either, but I'm stuck! All the Ford's we ever had were total garbage but my moronic dad was an idiot Ford man and still is..........

Eh, a few minor problems but overall still in decent shape, basically windows that don't work, doors that don't work, and a bad thing is doors that don't lock, that's first on the agenda! A/C is ice cold, will freeze you out in a heartbeat. Oh, hehe......*blush*........I didn't even look.......don't know if its a V6 or V8............I was just happy to be mobile again, without depending on neighbors that were likely getting tired of our calls............

Ok, we are now legal in the Mountaineer and it is the V8, bye bye gas mileage, oh well, will just have to be sure to reduce grocery store trips, make sure I actually get everything I need the first time I stop.
