I don't see success as materialistic or based off ones financial status. Property can be gifted, stolen, found, etc. Can one be given success? I don't think so.

Success is also relative. For instance, in my opinion, success is a term that's pretty meaningless. Everyone wants the best life they can obtain. But if one strives for success what are they striving for? The first word for you think of isn't likely success. The best meaning I personally can give to success is it's an attribute one see's in themselves or another based on personal status and/or opinion. Results of an evaluation of ones works.

To look at another and take an evaluation of their success yields results based on the works of the evaluater just as much as the one being evaluated. Success is very relative.

At the same time one can be a pretty rotten individual and be considered by others as successful or may view themselves as successful. And what some consider successful others may find their fruits to be completely inadequate.

Good thread idea and some interesting and intelligent responses here. Success is a term which is only meaningful when applied to ones own inward evaluation. To me at least. Success is one of the very last things I'm worried about.

On another note. Say someone raises millions for people in need but literally possess nothing themselves. Is that person successful? I think so.

yes there are some houses in my neighborhood that are around 750k and higher...

but I have literally seen every type of car in these driveways.....

Ill see if I can find some examples on google maps- brb.
You're taking it far too literally, Ralph. Very much missing my point. Not to mention throwing this thread off track repeatedly every time you bring it up. I get it. You don't accept my assessment. That's fine. Please let it go. It is not the intended purpose for this discussion.

Actually, screw it... I've lost interest at this point.

Thank you to those that actually participated. While it remained on topic, it was quite interesting, and exactly what I was looking for!
