What non-Honda engine would you like to see in a CB7?
The electric motor is a great idea, those gt3 rs motors are rediculous 4.0 8000+rpm and 500 hp best n/a motor ever. If it could be a honda motor its the k20c1 naturally....and likely it will be done in a cb.
......father in law has it back again. Time to shine
I think the idea that this had to ultimately remain a FWD vehicle, for the purposes of this conversation, got lost on a few.
As to the Porsche engine and transmission, that would not work. The only way to do it would be to put the engine in front and then have an adapter plate between it and the transmission to allow the transmission to run upside down. Otherwise, you'd be going WAY too fast in reverse. That's because the Porsche's engine is oriented to be a rear-engine and not a mid-engine.

Your adapter needs to be less a plate and more a custom differential sandwiched between the engine and trans (or after the trans) to reverse rotation going out towards the wheels .
Imagine the RR engine setup in its natural state. Now rotate the entire assembly forward using the axle as the rotating axis. Your transmission still spins the correct way, but your engine is upside down. You'll need an adapter to rotate the engine the right side up.

Honestly I would love to see a diesel swap into a CB, not quite sure of which one but I would actually consider a VW motor first... They definitely pushed turbo diesels harder here than anybody else, parts aren't cheap but they are known to be reliable, reasonably powerful, and getting 50 mpg in an Accord would put Civic owners to shame.
I know an electric motor has already been said, but the "drivetrain" from a Tesla P85D would be amazing.

Lol try 40x that. Let's just say if you were trying to see if you had fuel at the lines. Break that loose in a common rail setup, and it'll rip off your face and the wall behind you.
Saab B202. 160hp DOHC turbo engine.
Longitudinally mounted with the clutch up front, and the transmission underneath. Why? Because it's freakin' weird, that's why!
