    Research paper anyone?

Hey, Well, i have a 10 page paper due in a week, havent started, and its just gotta be on something in history. I dont feel like doing it, and WILL wait till the last few days to get it done. Anyone got any papers that you have written... can be like just 5 pages.. something to get me started. Its just gotta be something on history from like 1850-present.

Did i mention that i hate writing? My view is pretty much that in todays age.. you do not need research papers. If someone wants info, they will go online and get it. Us average and below average writers cannot write anything useful, so why waste ink and time.

Eh man.. I think we all hate writing.

The easiest way i've found to write one is to just figure the topic, find all quotes from sources, and the rest is pretty much pie from there.

Yeah, i'll prolly end up just writing on the Cold War or something.. that way i'll have plenty of stuff to write about, so i dont have to do in depth research. Then my presentation i'll just put together last minute aswell.

of course that assumes that the information found online is reliable, which many times it is not. just because "information" is found, doesn't mean it's truthful.

the process of getting information from reliable sources, distilling and paring down the information, and turning it into words that help someone understand a subject they may not have understood or been aware of otherwise is what it's about. it's not necessarily about the destination, but the journey to it.

"history" from 1850 to the present is a broad topic. the cold war seems too easy- as in too easy to do, and too easy for the professor to pick you apart. seeing as how this is an automotive forum, think about the change of modes of transportation from 1850 to now. or, if you like the military angle, the change of modes of transportation in battle from the 1850s to now.

absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

very true.. but thankfully, he isnt grading on content as long as its not totally stupid. I can write short stuff, and papers that have a point, but I just cant get myself to think that writing 10 pages on some topic is worth while. Writing is the one area where i will always take the easy way out, or things like this. In my business class, we have to write A LOT, but i dont have a problem there... why, because the writing has a point, and you write as much as you need to sell the product or make people aware.

Russia's move into Communsim is interesting. The ideals, why it didn't work, the gory results. I think you need to focus your a topic a little more than the cold war.

The New Deal is a good topic to write upon...a lot of information upon it...and the professor wont necessarily pick it apart. I could help you out on that topic, if you needed it. Another good topic would be a policy created during war world II or during vietnam. There were many different american policies created during those times and therefore would contain some great information. good luck man...if you need any help just hit me up on aim, benvt04...i loved history class.

You think there is enough material on the policies made to write 10 pages? Sounds kinda interesting, i'll start a little research.

I love English and History both!
History points to the future, and English tells us how to descibe whats going on in the beautiful and vivid world around us!
Good luck on your paper - try to pick something that you have alot of into to work with, and also something that is interesting. THEN buckle down and do it!

                          Good Luck bro!
