Seatbelt tickets are for the intelligent rebel.

I don't know how it is in your state but ohio is click it or ticket.
Why should I be demanded to wear a whiplash causing rope around my chest?Meanwhile im pulled over getting a ticket when dude with no doors or roof on his jeep speeds by racing with his buddy on a motorcycle?
Whats the side impact rating on those bad boys?
I constantly here about overseas or even canadian vehicles we will not get in the U.S. due to crash test ratings while lawmakers are ignorant regarding many current unsafe vehicles/situations.
......father in law has it back again. Time to shine

Any law that protects me from my self shouldn't be on the books. laws that protect you from me are another story.

If you don't want to wear one so bad, move to somewhere that is legal.

In MO 18,000 lb and above tags make it a commercial vehicle as for registration is concerned. No seat belts required for commercial vehicles in MO.

it all comes down to money, money from the fleecing and money spent on medical bills for people that couldnt afford them. In a minor accident people were more likely to get hurt worse w/o a seatbelt vs wearing one. on the other hand ive seen a few stories where not wearing a belt in a major accident saved the person because they were ejected, but thats rare. Id be more concerned with the antiquated airbag technology vs the strap in our cars. Nothing like a Mike Tyson blast to the face because you had a moderately fast fender bender.

But to boil it down it all just comes down to money. money that can be made off the plebeians. Look at all these cell phone laws, here you cant even have them in your hand while driving,(Im afraid to use the phones GPS sometimes, I dont have the money for the long drawn court battle) only takes a couple of dumb fucks to ruin it for the rest of us.

Yea and getting killed by taking a headfirst dive thru a windshield at 65 mph sounds so much better than whiplash. Fuck that I'm wearing my seatbelt.

This reminds me of that Swedish commercial of the passengers killing each other in the car crash.

There's videos of unbelted bodies pelting others in cars in wrecks. One of the reasons everyone in my vehicles wear a seatbelt. If you're alone in your car it's one thing, but I'm not going to be killed because someone doesn't want to be inconvenienced with a seatbelt and come hurdling at me.

While yes there are instances of people surviving crashes they probably shouldn't have by not wearing a seatbelt, it's ignorant to think you're statistically more likely to survive without one.

Once again, I'm left wondering why people are so overly concerned with the actions of others which have no impact what so ever on their own lives or well being.

Wearing a seat belt or not is a personal decision and it will remain as such as far as I'm concerned regardless of the possibility of being extorted for monies. I didn't like the law so I simply found a way around it.

If you are deemed "unsafe" by not wearing a seat belt you face financial punishment. Remind me again, what direct impact this fine has in regards to safety? What direct impact this fine has as for the law which has been broken? Wouldn't education be a better method of delivering the message? Of course it is. But that's not profitable. The system is designed to operate on the unsafe actions of the citizens in which it governs. Without these actions the system could not stand nor would be necessary. If it's citizens are safer then they are without a job. It's not in their best interests to educate people about safety. It's all about money.

Seat belt fine in MO is $10. I got a seat belt ticket once. And as a US citizen I have the right to request to be tried by a jury of my peers. I did so and was denied but granted a bench trial instead. The case was dismissed upon the first preliminary hearing. All that effort over $10... But I feel it's an unjust law that violates my rights. If I feel something is wrong I don't comply with it. Simple as that.

                      -

edit... The comments made in regards to "being hit with a body" are among the most ignorant statements I've heard in some time. Can one make a more desperate attempt at grasping for straws?

Driving a motor vehicle is a privilege, NOT a right. To maintain your privilege there are rules and responsibilities that must be followed. If you don't want to wear your seat belt, that is your prerogative, but be prepared for the consequences, whether it be a fine when you get stopped by those that enforce these previously mentioned rules or by your (or your passenger's) injuries caused by not wearing said seat belt.

Eventually, with enough stops and fines on your record, be prepared for increased insurance rates or the loss of your driving privilege entirely.

Driving also comes with inherent dangers. If you are not comfortable with these possibilities, either wear your freakin seat belt or quit driving (or riding in) privately owned vehicles. You don't have to wear a seat belt when you're riding a bus.

Like was said before, I'd rather have a case of whiplash than being permanently disabled or dead. I don't pull out of my driveway without a seat belt on. You never know who is coming down the street at any given time and whether or not they are paying attention...

Seat belt use significantly lowers medical costs incurred by your insurance company or government (whomever ends up footing the bill). Personally, as a tax payer and insured driver, I do NOT want to have my rates go up because some idiot refused to wear their seat belt.

Again, seat belts are not required on mass transit. Ride the fucking bus if you can't wear a fucking seat belt!

You could fly through the windsheild, you could smack into your passenger who is belted up and kill them.
A bird, a bug or a rock could pelt the driver of a jeep in the head, knock him out and cause a jeep to be a 1 ton 70mph death charriot. No ticket for that
Let alone a truck hitting the side of a jeep.
How fast would I get pulled over if I took the doors off my cb?

Every citizen has the right to travel. The Privileges and Immunities Clause of the United States Constitution states, "The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States." I could further elaborate on this but I will let the opportunity slide.

Insurance rate increases from seat belt violations can occur. However this varies from state to state is in not a rule implemented everywhere. It's to the insurance companies discretion in some states but of those states few insurance companies report the adjustment of insurance rates based on any non-point violations.

Driving also comes with inherent dangers. If you are not comfortable with these possibilities, either wear your freakin seat belt or quit driving (or riding in) privately owned vehicles. You don't have to wear a seat belt when you're riding a bus.
Agreed. Although I think you meant something different than what this statement implies. Or at least what I find it to imply.

                              -

I know a couple people who I won't ride with because I feel their driving is unsafe. Do you have any friends like that? I imagine you might. If being a passenger you have fears of being hit by your driver or any other persons in the vehicle and feel the reason being is because they don't wear a seat belt then you have that same right. The right not to get into the vehicle with them. And so does everyone else. That's their decision.

The new mindset "we have to protect everyone from everything" is just pissing in a fan. You can't protect people from themselves and you shouldn't attempt to under almost all circumstances. Protecting people from other people is a whole other subject. But as for getting hit with another's body that's ridiculous. If your that gung ho about it then I would start with motorcyclist as they are many many times more likely to do so over an unbuckled driver.

Think on that for a second. A motorcycle is a super unsafe contraption that has a track record to the moon to provide evidence of this. What your getting into is taking away the freedom of others and yourself in the name of security. That's really whats going on here. Don't try to change my world in order to make you feel safe. If your scared then you take actions to make yourself at ease. Don't take my rights to so. I mean, we should all have the right to ride a motorcycle right?
