I was on my way to pick up some Prelude blades for my beater for cheap, like 50 dollars cheap with tires, so i made sure to meet the guy....luckily I was driving my beater and not my coupe since I didn't want to get anything dirty in the trunk and interior.
So FF to tonight, I call and arrange to meet the guy at a Starbucks at the intersection of Val Vista and Southern at 7pm. I was working on my 4dr CB earlier that evening, installing a driver rear window regulator I bought from Pick N Pull in the afternoon, stoked I found an OEM one in perfect shape. I was running a little late and was about 5 min late.
I pull up to the intersection of Val Vista and Southern and wait at the left turn lane behind a Tercel or Yaris, some shitty car, when out of the blue, I get SLAMMED from behind and hit hard enough to bump me into the car in front. Luckily my head was resting on the headrest and I didn't suffer any whiplash at all. I'm not in any pain and not a bruise scratch or anything.
I was a little shaken up not knowing what exactly hit me, then I see the guy sit there behind me and backup, I turn my hazards on and so does the car ahead of me waiting to pull over at the nearest pullout.
Then, instead of following me in, the guy in the Miata behind me guns his engine and takes off! I was shocked, but wasn't going to let him get away. I heard some metal grinding and was sure that my rear end was fucked up. It turned out to be my exhaust.
I follow the guy, flooring it as much as my single cam 130hp + P12 and AEM CAI would allow and keep up with him in his slushbox Miata. I force him almost off the road to the left, no cars coming and he quickly pulls his E-brake and does a U turn. He then guns it and runs right into a curb with both right side tires...probably fucking his car up even more.
So now, we're heading back to the intersection where he rear-ended me and he makes a sharp right and almost loses it into 3 or 4 cars. He lost control and hit the right front pretty hard at 30mph. At this point bending and possibly popping a tire.
At this point a Police Tahoe takes pursuit, probably from the people in front of me that called 911 after they saw the guy take off.
The drunk driver turns into a residential neighborhood, goes about 2 blocks, turns right and then as he was making a left, he loses it again and crashes into a parked Chevy Cruze causing some damage to the LF corner, fender and bumper.
After that his car dies and the cop ahead of me has his gun drawn yelling at the guy, PUT YOUR HANDS UP! after a min or so go by he doesn't listen, just gets of of his car and stares at the cop blankly. Three cop cars show up behind me and rush over to the perpetrator.
Then another cop comes from behind with a Tazer and shoots him. 50,000 volts immediately freezes this guy and he falls to the ground with a thud. At this point there must've been 30 cops on the ground and even a police chopper was flying up above with the flood light shining down.
Dude was in his 50s, COMPLETELY plastered. A picture below i took shows a cooler with 3 beers in it, one in the center console and 2 more in the passenger floor area.
My 4dr suffered some damage, but was able to be driven home after a few zipties to the exhaust.
From the initial looks of it, i'll need at least an axleback section, and rear inner taillight. My bumper is scuffed pretty bad, but its my DD and I'm not too concerned. My trunklid is misaligned a little. One finger gap on the rightside and none on the left.
So that was my Saturday night.
