What is the dumbest thing you've heard someone say referring to cars?

I was perusing through Jalopnik and this topic came up and I'd be curious to see if there's any CB-specific things anyone has heard, or just their stories in general. The other half to this topic was what to do if someone says something that you're sure is false, however, I'm bored and more intrigued to hear what some people say. Perfect example would be this guy:

This was a guy I used to work with. He was an idiot. That sounds wrong but he deserves it considering he told me his car was a supercharged V6 making 450 hp...and he was serious.

I also had a guy in HS tell me he was going 120 mph on a quad and fell off a 100 ft. cliff. So stuff like that. Have at it.

I had a friend who owned a BMW 545i, bone stock. Thought it was faster than my other friend's e46 M3 which he's tuned and worked on for a decade. He would not shut up about how fast his 5 series was, but would never put his money where his mouth was.

I had a friend tell me one time that his wheel was lighter than normal because there was no air in the tire.....

I wish I could trade my heart for an extra liver, just so I can drink more and care less.

Haha WTF. Back when I didn't know anything I had this redneck dude help install my alternator and power steering belt and he told me the reason why Japanese manufacturers put their engines sideways is so they can fit bigger engines in the bay........

An F22Ax in a CB with I/H/E a tune and 272 will annihilate a turbo Civic hatch.

A D17 is a bad ass engine with over 200hp stock.

Hills are harder on the gears inside a FWD transmission than in a RWD transmission.

An engine can be seized and still turn over.

All Hondas are made and assembled in Japan.

JMH vin CBs are better than 1HG vin CBs.

Rotaries blow up ever 20,000 miles.

A Mitsubishi Evolution is a ricer because it has a big spoiler and a large exhaust exit.

I'm sure I can think of more.

An old coworker of mine said that he had a twin-turbo Z32 (300zx). He said that he had a lot of work done to it (at least he admitted that he didn't do any of it himself...)
Then he said he was going to convert the car to RWD.
He legitimately thought the 300zx that he owned was FWD.

Last year, my friend's wife decided she was going to buy a new car while he was at work. He called me, all pissed off, because she was there signing their life away without him. I told him to find out details. He got back to me and said "It's a 2011 Civic with 30,000 miles. Automatic, not sure what trim. She's paying $18,000"
I told him to ask her if it was 4 cylinder or a V6... and she said V6. The woman was paying eighteen freaking thousand dollars for a car that she knew NOTHING about!
Turns out, it was an LX... and $18,000 is about the brand new MSRP in 2011 for an LX!

80% of the stuff said on that page. Here, it would be considered trolling. There, sadly... it's legit.

"My stock 6 cylinder Mustang can do 9 seconds and I have a foot long dick."

I have heard that more than once but they sounded dumber than that.

When people put premium fuel in their beaters that just need regular, because they think they're doing something good for their car when really they're just wasting money and gas...

I've had a few conversations at the pump with people using premium in their shit box civics...i try to explain compression but i'm usually met with blank stares.

x2 - I see that happening all the time. But they swear they need the "extra power" that premium gas gives them.

A guy I use to know gave us cornering tips. The most memorable one being "What you want to do is, brake really hard at the very beginning of the turn, then keep braking throughout the turn and finally floor it when your at the 3/4 of the turn." We nodded are heads and smiled

^ Or brake super hard before the turn and go straight like RyanD did last year.

I run premium in my car because where I live it doesn't contain ethanol. So the extra $4/tank gets me an added 150km and no worries about ethanol in my engine. It's a 2001 so I know that it wasn't tuned for 10-15% ethanol and it was running 20-30* hotter. Now if we are talking E10-E15 premium, I wouldn't waste the $4 and I would stick to regular. just to note, I'm talking Canadian dollars here!

As per the thread question; What is the dumbest thing you've heard someone say referring to cars?

That the Acura NSX is slow..... 3.0L of 290hp all motor and 12.5 in the 1/4 mile.... that's only 2 seconds shy of a 707hp car that we have been talking about lately! I would think hard about redesigning my car if it took an extra 400hp just to gain 2 seconds on a sub 300hp car in the quarter mile.

The only issue that I have with this statement is that power required to accelerate faster is an exponential curve.

While the NSX was certainly impressive at a stock level, largely due to light weight, a great powerband, and good aerodynamics, it would take pretty close to the same amount if power to get an NSX to go as fast. Look at the power Lovefab NSX's need to go 10's. Also, to put the NSX's performance in perspective, look at the first Car and Driver 0-150-0 contest where a 290HP NSX clobbered the shit out of a Vette with 50 more HP.
