I just miss the old days. None of the cars you listed are appealing at all to me. They seem to lack character, there seems to be no struggle, they do it all. It just seems boring. I could not own a new car with massive power and feel as proud of it as I can an old import. I would feel like the only thing I done was sign the title. And driving a new vehicle I don't feel the connection like I do with any older car whether domestic or import. I love the feel of an old Fox body or even an old 12 valve 1st gen Cummins. You don't get that with a new car or truck.
The way you explained the new automotive world clicked when I read it as I have not been able to put it into my own words. The new cars simply are everything. Cheap, reliable, fast, they handle, they are safe... A set of headers add 30hp. It's what people want. And I agree it is cool. But the fight is what I have always enjoyed. No fight no fun IMO. And by now all the good imports seem to be gone or stupid expensive. The old era seemed to have ate most of them up.
EDIT.... I guess this makes me old school... I'm in my mind twenties and I'm already old school in the automotive world, my how automobiles have progressed in the last 20 years...'93 H22A 5SPD SE - MRT - DIY-Turbo Sizing

I definitely agree with you guys but shit man I can't even count the last time I've seen a cb7 or a eg civic. Efs and crx is like gold. I bet the srt4 dart is going after that Hyundai r the Hyundai r will be mostly electrical and have 300 HP and like 2 generators to keep it pepped up. I'd be more concerned with fires than with speed or floods lol.

I drove my friend's 06 STi a few times. It's an incredibly fast car (he has some mods done... nothing crazy, but it would beat my CTS-V in a race.) AWD, technology out the wazoo... and it feels like I'm along for the ride. I'm sitting in a machine that is going fast... but I don't feel connected to it at all. It's robotic feeling to me. It's so perfect in its function that I don't feel like I'm really all that important in the equation!
Maybe on a track, pushed to the limits, I'd be able to appreciate a car like that. On public roads, it sneaks up to 90mph and you don't even realize it.

I already went through like 5 cars all of them nodded and I have contributed more than just talk your still rocking the same car with the same mods on it save it bro.
I suppose you want a cookie, huh? Please don't throw shade, this thread isn't about that. But since you asked. I have learned way more about my car or cars in general than the average person thanks to this site. I haven't put anything into action because I've been in school. Don't make assumptions, clearly I don't have the same mods as when I joined the site. Yes I'm rocking the same car, can you say that? An enthusiast wouldn't give up on something they love dearly when a newer, shinier something comes out.
Following through with what? A car purchase? An enthusiast is not a person that's able to buy a nice vehicle. An enthusiast learns and knows their craft. "Built not bought" means that to me. Don't slap a bunch of go fast parts together just because you can, but know why and how each part affects your car. Pretty much what Deev said, but it's how I feel.

It's just a different kind of fun. It's like a gokart haha.
I still wouldn't pay for either, probably because I can't afford them. But if I could I'd still own something old... I don't know why I'm like that.
I would however like to own a newer car for a daily driver. I have looked into the new Dart. I had one as a rental a while back, when my 93 got totaled insurance gave me one for a week. I didn't feel like I do in an old car but it was sporty and felt very reliable.
There is one car that is brand new that I would love to own. A turbo 4 cylinder Mustang! I love the new body style and the turbo 4 is so controversial. Plus the mpg for a DD would be cool.

Edit:
New cars don't do it for me either. I would like to take a spin in an SRT8 Jeep and I don't even like SUVs like that.Last edited by sonikaccord; 08-08-2014, 11:55 AM.

Not much of an argument left anyway. It's really all opinion at this point. Most mainstream manufacturers offer similar options where your choice of vehicle is based more on your personal preference, than on any absolute superiority.
And I'm sure you are right about on the track. One could actually feel the car better while pushing it's limits. Most roads anymore are no match for these new cars. And then when they are it becomes more a battle with the drivers skills vs the road. The car can handle it. That's how my Ducati feels. It's capable of way way more than I am. If I ever wreck it it's going to be due to me not it.
