There is a lot more usability and customizability IMO. It is a little different than the traditional iOS setup though. However, once you start to learn the quirks about how it works and how it is different, they really put a TON of slick new features in it.
It also seems to run faster. I have actually killed my battery twice today just messing with it.
What I don't like as much is the appearance of it. One of the things I always like about the iPhone was the absolute attention to detail in the appearance of the screens, icons, etc. It might be part of what makes it run faster, but honestly, the 2D look is sort of weird. Not bad necessarily, just not as good as the old IMO.
The only other thing I have really found to complain about is that they changed the sounds a bit. The old ones are still there, but they have a whole new selection.
Some features that I have found so far that I like:
- The ability to block calls, texts, and facetime requests from numbers you don't want calling you.
- Siri's functionality is much improved.
- Safari seems to be getting good reviews, although I haven't used it much.
- The ability to access some basic functions from the lock screen, so you don't have to unlock to do certain things (like activate airplane mode).
- The multitasking functions are improved. It is also easier to manage what is running and to close the stuff that is running.
- The camera software is better, and has more functionality (burst mode, built in filters, built in panorama, etc)
- You can put more than a fixed number of icons in one folder. So for instance, on iOS 6, I had to have 2 utility folders for all of my stuff. Now they are in one.
- Apple Radio is nice, and it integrates with the phone better than apps like Pandora. It also includes the ability to buy songs right from the app.
- I haven't used it much, but there were apparently a lot of improvements to what you can do to organize email, etc.
- Airdrop is a nice feature, that will allow one of the phones to become a WiFi hotspot if there is no external WiFi available.
- There are a lot of cool little touches like swipe from the left edge to go back (browser, menu, etc)
Overall, I have been running it for like 8 hours straight now, and I can't find a single functionality problem. Like I said, the only thing I can really complain about is the appearance (oddly, the droid guys seem to be going nuts over that part) because while clean, it is a little boring and doesn't have enough depth for my tastes.
I think in future revisions we might see a return to slightly more detailed appearance.
For those with iPhone 4's there are some functions that you won't get.
I have a Prada but back in June apple released like an early update for ios7 or gave an option to update it as a trial I guess. It was one day only and all my friends hated it. It's like android and windows got together and had a baby.
That being said, I like my prada. In fact I love it, but that gold iPhone 5s is calling my name.
I still think apple needs to work on their contacts grouping abilities. I hate having to have an app for all that. They need to give users options to have different color schemes and fonts. I too am not a huge fan of the new appearance. Seems to be operating properly though. I have the iPhone 5 and I heard the 4's were having some speed problems. Just what I've heard though.
