I recently submitted an application to Parts Geek.com's affiliate program. They have good prices, and their affiliate program is decent. It would've been a win-win-win... for them, for me, and for everyone here.

I just received an email from them:

Unlike other companies that have sent me similar emails, these links are legitimate. Links provided by members actually DRIVING TRAFFIC TO THAT WEBSITE! Other sites have requested that I remove spam links created by shady SEO companies that they hired (marketing companies.)

So, fuck Parts Geek. They will get no more business from this site. I will do as they wish, and remove their links. Their name will now show up as *********, and all previous links will be broken.

In the past, I've gotten emails from people saying "We hired this SEO company that created bogus accounts on your site just to link to our site. Could you please remove them?"
At first, I was happy to oblige. Then I started telling them to contact that SEO company, get the login info, and remove the information themselves. It should be more work for THEM, not for ME! They're the ones that spammed my site, unintentionally or not.

With Parts Geek, they were never spammed. I never had my affiliate application approved, so all the links were simply because the parts were good, and the prices were good. Some of their prices beat RockAuto. There are no "link schemes" going on. It was just one enthusiast linking their site to another enthusiast.

So screw them. I'd have gladly engaged in a dialogue with them about the situation. I'd have gladly contacted Google on their behalf, explaining that it was not spam, or a "link scheme"... that it was nothing more than quality word of mouth advertising.
Instead, they send me threats. Fuck them.

I blocked them on CD5tuner too. I'm tempted to contact the owners of other sites I'm associated with and suggest they do the same. You don't threaten the people that are giving you business. Hell, even I'M not that bad!
