Love & Hate relationship with your CB ?

Anyone have these mix feelings like i do

I love my CB7 and have since the day I began modding it so to speak and want to keep it forever

But then I have those days when you fix one thing and than something else starts knocking or needs attention, I just want to get rid of it and purchase a car that's up to date that doesn't require constant maintance.

    When she's good, she's Good

When she's bad, it's a pain in the ass

I sit back and look as to how far I've come and can't grasp the concept of getting rid of it but the again......New is new, right ?

my car got broken into a few weeks back. :/ i mean shit, i doesnt have a radio, the door panel is missing wtf man now I have to fix a broken trim issue. It just never stops... but overall i think its a great car but i unlike many on the board don't feel that it is a safe car.

the air bag and abs system (if your car has them) are very primitive.

but overall as an in town car (on that doesnt require driving on a single lane highway) I feel average in safety but out in the interstate were plenty of dumb fucks speed or are under s substance that impairs im always on edge. I dont know about you guys but Texans are absolute tards. Well 80% are. Add to that our highways are 85mph and you get the drift.

Sold mine to start over because of cancer.

If you don't feel like your car is safe, invest in some suspension parts? Probably old worn bushings and shit making your car feel like a horse drawn carriage at 65mph.

My cancer was going to cost too much to get fixed and required more time to fix than I cared to offer it.

If you hate your accord, sell it and buy another one. Im sure you can find another one in better condition for similar money.

damn bro I hope you win your battle.

The job I'm at now covers 100% all medical bills.

The car has over hauled suspension steering rubber and brakes, when I say unsafe I mean by design and by materials used.

Older cars just don't hold up well to impact

Yeah. When it's good it's good. But when it's bad, it's really bad. For me, I choose my CB7 nearly four years ago now and I have loved every minute of owning it. During the whole time I have had an 02 Em2 civic that I used as my daily driver. As I have slowly worked on my Cb7 to make it more reliable and such, I have slowly walked away from driving my Em2. In the last four years I've done pretty well most of what I originally set out to do. I did full maintenance (including a full poly bushing refresh), suspension and some basic bolt ons. Yes, there have been times when my CB7 did fail me and make me want to get rid of it, but over our time together I've learned to accept it for what it is. Proof of that is I got my CB7 when my Em2 was in for it's 96xxx km checkup. As it sits now, it's only at 125xxx km now since buying my CB7. If I had to choose to sell one off, sadly my Em2 would probably be the one to be sold off. Owning an older car that I spent tons of time working on and learning how to get the most out of it is much more satisfying to me then something I just bought and drove.

I got rid of my coupe after I sort of hit a plateau with it, and then things started going down hill from there.

Nothing compares to the feeling you get when someone older than you or even younger in age stop you and tell you how much they love your CB it being a old classic and all. My main gripe is usually and always the constant maintenance that has to be put into it with it being a car 16+ years old. My ideal plan would be to keep it and work on it slowly while I have another newer used car as a daily but it all comes down to it being able to fit into ones budget which with school loans being paid, this and that... It all adds up.

Essentially the car isn't going anywhere at the moment but my mind/eyes have been wondering and looking into what's the next step from here.

My white coupe was in such good shape mechanically and bodywise, that I would have been smart just to keep it and drive it as it was.

Over the course of the year I owned it and modified it, I caused more damage and unnecessary repairs to the car than had I just let it be. Once I started screwing with coilovers and everything, it all went downhill from there. That coupe was probably the best car I've ever owned. It never let me down or left me stranded. It was cheap to buy, operate and maintain. It got out of hand when I started modding it, and honestly, it was the modifications that became the demise of the car because I got tired of dealing with the domino effect of mods/repairs.

As for the Civic, I absolutely love it. I liked them since they came out in 2006. The first one I ever drove was a 2008 EX sedan, 5 speed when I was trying to get rid of my Mazda 3. I instantly fell in love with the interior of the Civic. Comfortable, great visibility, lots of storage and the dash is just so freakin cool. I love the style of the sedan and coupe. The sedan has tons of room inside, front and rear with a huge trunk. I think, right now, in this price point (~$15k for 2008-2009 models), the only other car I would consider in it's class as a replacement would be a fully loaded Mitsubishi Lancer GTS manual. I'm leaning towards buying Mitsu next, as I've worked at a Mitsu dealer for 2 years and have seen first hand what a great product they really are.

I've driven a 2006 Hybrid sedan we had on the lot at work (horrible, but it's cool with the digital climate controls), then I bought my '08 EX-L coupe back in December and traded it in for the SI back in April.

I'm very, very pleased with the car overall. I might even keep this one for more than 6 months lol. I've got higher miles on it, almost 140 000km (~85k mi) for an '08, but the car is in fantastic shape, and obviously I take better care of the car then I take care of myself.

You will drive a non-SI Civic and be like "meh, it's alright." But then you'll drive an SI and giggle like a school girl while you sign the bill of sale.

I have the budget to pay for this car comfortably, but I don't have the budget to mod it the way I did with a car with no payments. I would gladly go back to not financing a car, but if I do that, all the extra money would be spent on mods. I'm in a lose-lose situation when it comes to cars and money. I spend money on them regardless. Just part of being an enthusiast. There's no way you think I could buy a Civic SI and NOT mod it.

I've only been a CB7 owner since october but it is a bit of love hate. The hate is more on the wife's side but it wouldn't be as bad if I didn't spend so much on upgrade parts not really needed except to get the car where I want it to be. So when yet another bug presents itself to iron out the wife feels it's a money pit. It's a 23 year old car, the way I see it the more i replace right now the better she will be for the next several years.
I live in Canada and I own a 1990 CB7 where the only rust inside and out is on the rear fender (which I am taking care of). I get loads of compliments on the car, especially old folk like my self 30+, and I`ve caught some civic kids checking it out at the parking lot where I work. One had a window down and screamed "sick" as I was out having a smoke.

This car makes me feel more good than than bad, it's family now. I've spent more on fun stuff than bad on her so far so I'm happy.
