Do you have any tile experience? I have none, and I'm looking to redo my bathroom as well. I'm curious to see how yours turns out!

        Omg awesome!

Im the one who created the home thread for my house, although it turned into a 4 page discussion about my fucking mailbox lol.

        Anyways!

Im excited to see what you come up with.....I have a pedestal sink in my MBR.

And Mike, I have tile experience....I helped a dude lay it out in my parents house and I helped a few buddies do my other dudes basement...

Its really easy, just time consuming.

              HAHA.

yea I kinda figured as much.

              That's cool though.

When were you looking at doing it?

My buddy has a tile cutter I could probably borrow...

thats really all you need...besides little shit like levels and shit.

Really the hardest part is removing the old tiles and grout...

then when thats done its just a matter of mixing thinset and putting enough down to not have them pop up.

After that you just lay them out and let them dry...

              then add grout!

Not sure yet. Might not even bother. I don't want to hijack kpoweredCB7's thread anymore though!

The type of trowel you use is important. V or square knotch, how big the knotch is, that kind of stuff is all relevant to how big the tile is, if its going on a wall or floor, in a bathroom or walkway.

It all matters. Just like the way you lay the mortar with the trowel matters. You really want to keep about a 60 degree angle between the trowel and the surface to keep an even line of mortar. The spots with no mortar after the trowel is ran allow both for air flow and for the mortar to squish when you gently press the tiles down. Or how you are best to arch your mortar on a wall. There are details to all of it. The easiest way to get your mortart right is to lay it on the wall with a drywall knife like plaster, and then come back over it with your tile trowel and cut your grooves. That way you can get an even lay of the mortar first that is bonded to the wall/flor or whatever, and then cut the trowel knotches into the mortar. I use a 12" drywall knife for applying the mortar, then whatever knotch is relevant to the work I am doing.

You need spacers, but dont lay them down. Rather than laying them down like the tile, stand them up so you only use 1 side in the joint posting the spacer vertically. This is way easier and better for keeping things aligned as well as easier for removing them.

Use a float when doing the grout. And only do a bit at a time when doing grout. Its important to let it sit long enough and be able to clean it off fast enough that you don't get a residue on the tile afterwards. The key to this is avoiding the grout sitting on the tile too long. It has to sit for a specified time, but follow the instructions to the T or you will hate yourself for the residue on your tile.

Sealing tile is important too. Sealing tile is different than sealing grout. Grout sealant will generally seal tile, tile sealant doesn't always seal grout. Buy an impregnator sealant, and that will seal anything you need to seal.

Theres a lot to be said about doing tile. I can and am willing to help.

                    Thanks guys!
I have never tiled before, and neither has my dad, but we are going to lay them today, they are already cut and dry fitted.
                    I'll update with more pictures.

It wasn't hard deev, the most time consuming part was cutting and fitting, the laying part was fast, only about 20 minutes. If I lived closer, I'd help you lay them.

Did you actually lay the tile?
