That sucks that you have to pay tax on a prize like that. "Congratulations! You just won something that you wouldn't do otherwise, but now you have to pay to do it!"
I'm sure the taxes were far less than the trip was worth, but still pricey. Up to a third can be taxed, I believe.
Was everything included in the trip, or did you have to provide your own food and such?

Still sucks. I think the one GIVING the prize should pay the taxes on it. It's a "promotional expense" after all. You can be damn sure they're writing all that they're paying for off as a business expense!
