I'm super excited right now, I just got hired at our sister store as an express tech! I'm currently working for Honda in the sales department and have been for the last year and 3 months, since Jan 2012. Well, I have always had a passion for working on vehicles and becoming a Tech has always been one of my long term goals. Well, since i have been at this dealership i have been pretty much everyones side mechanic and doing a bunch of jobs on the side. The other day i was getting some parts for another employee of ours and one of our office ladies over heard it and was "like why dont you become a tech?" And i was like 'i would love too', and she was like "well Toyota is hiring.." and she sent an email to our HR manager.
Well about half an hour later I got an email from Susan (our HR manger) and she asked if i was looking to switch. She asked for a copy of my Resume and after i sent it, she edited it
and was like this is better and sent it to the Service manager at Toyota... I get a call about an hour later and had an interview on Thursday.. Well today I just got hired on full time!!
So now I will be moving from Honda to Toyota and I will start as a Valet/Express Tech. She has me starting that way because i dont have any actual dealership experience but I will then move into full time express tech. After that, depending on performance I will then move into a full Tech and Toyota will pay for the schooling.
My plan is to work my way up threw Toyota and eventually move to Lexus or a higher end brand.. From what I understand is a little higher pay there..
I'm so happy right now. And the best part is I'm starting off Mon-Friday!!! I havent had Saturdays off since I was 16!!
