Ok so my final solution is a split wood fence.
2 rail probably....
looks like this
And then im going to do flagstone pavers lining my driveway so if they clip the fence and still don't pull back they will hit flagstone before the mailbox so not only will I ensure their side is fucked up but they will lose a tire too.
My rationale is that I doubt anyone will hit the fence head -on.
They'll most likely clip it with their mirror, so the mirror will break off but I highly doubt it will do serious damage to the fence.
If they do cause some damage to the fence, it's cheap and easy to fix.
The pavers are really just to make the front look nice, that's it.
Its a secondary step but hopefully nobody goes that hard on my property.

Build a 3x3 tower of bricks, leave a hole street side, then fill with concrete up to hole, insert mailbox, then proceed to fill the tower the rest of the way up with concrete. This will kill/eject someone before being destroyed, only thing that would kill it would be a semi.Wife: "Why do you get G power platinum and i only get V power?"
Me:"Cause i have the high compression 93 octane only H22 and you have the bullet proof F22."
Wife:........................"But yours are prettier"
---------------------------------------------------
Wife:Baby, not everybody wants to do the 93 conversion"
Me:YES THEY DO, THEY JUST DON'T KNOW IT YET.

Even if I fortified my mailbox, if people still hit it, whether or not they destroy it, my wife and I are still at risk of being hit.
So I want to curb(no pun intended) the problem and then ill reinforce my mailbox.

Ok so my next project has arrived!
My wrought Iron handrails in the front and back of my house have rusted again and need to be repainted....
We were looking at replacing them with PVC or Stainless Steel so we would not need to do any maintenance on them, but haven't yet.
My father in law painted them when we moved in, so its been one full year. He did a quick job and while it was appreciated, it is time again.
So I got my materials yesterday.
They are:
A paint removing kit which includes wire mesh wheels and brushes.
Rustoleum gloss white paint
Primer
Rustoleum clear coat
I have cleaner and rags and various other odds and ends..
Luckily I inheritied a corded drill, which always has more power then cordless, so It shouldn't take me long to strip the rails down to the metal.
So ill do before and after and ill have a q&a session if anyone has any questions!

You can spray some paint removers in a squirt bottle and thats makes it easier too. Just read the label on the back and see if it can be sprayed. If not, brushing it on isn't that bad either. Way easier though.Originally posted by wed3kim a douchebag to people and i don't even own a lambo. whats your point? we, douchbags, come in all sorts of shapes and colours.

glad you settled on something , since everyone else was suggesting ibeams, brick structures, and 5gal buckets with concrete in them, i was gonna throw my .02 in there and say just buy a tank and mount a mailbox onto the side...
sorta like this:
but with a real tank instead of sheet metal.
anyways, the concrete parking barriers can be pretty ugly, but those things will ruin someones day if they go over them. bent wheels and punctured tires galore.
in the end i like the fence. itll be more visible and will likely help with people blindly pegging your mailbox.

Ya I really didn't want to do concrete blocks but I was really frustrated.
The fence came to me because on my daily commute, I pass a lot of rural spots and a lot of them have the split rail fencing....
and I assumed that its strong enough to keep things at bay, but cheap enough for them not to worry about it.
I work at a Prison as well, and there is a lot of split rail fencing here(besides the barbwire fence obv LOL)
So that gave me the idea to do it in combination with lining my driveway with rock so it would make it look nice but also serve as a trap for morons lol.

It'll be a lot easier that way. Those wheels work great, but you'll be there for 2 weeks wiring away at the damn thing to get it all cleaned.Originally posted by wed3kim a douchebag to people and i don't even own a lambo. whats your point? we, douchbags, come in all sorts of shapes and colours.

awesome cant wait to see the way it comes out.
i just did my own diy a/c evap coil cleaning last week since summer is on its way. i made a mistake by not getting that done when i first moved in and waiting a year to do it, because the a-coil probably had 2" thick worth of cat hair and dirt. people must not know what a/c filters are. too bad i didnt take pics or id have something to start my own home diy hahaha.
im getting into the home improvement mood lately as well. my house was built in the late 60s as well and could use a little love. going to be reworking all the silicone in the bathroom this weekend. i cut all the bad stuff out last weekend, it was all really sloppy or starting to fall apart (i guess someone did a patch job, because some was newer but ugly and the other stuff was starting to deteriorate), and did my first attempt. which was a learning experience for me, didnt turn out horrible but not great, so ripping it out this weekend and redoing. im sure by the end of it ill be a bathroom caulk master.
