I don't see a problem with that at all. Looks to me you are looking to relax in a luxury car instead of racing in a track car

If you get one, be sure you spell Infiniti correctly!
I feel they're a bit cheaply made for the luxury reputation they've been given, but they do perform quite well (with lots of aftermarket support.) They do indeed look nice. It would definitely be a more grownup car than the Evo, both in looks and in ride.
I've just been turned off on the G due to it being the choice ride among guidos now. Back in the day, you'd find the traditional Jersey meathead rocking an IROC... now you find the traditional Jersey Shore oompaloompa rocking a G.

They aren't going to be called G37s for long. Infiniti is dropping the the lineup. The new model will be the Q50. Does that mean it's getting a V8? No. It will be a 2.0L Turbo(it's actually the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class engine) ranging from 210-240hp. AWD will be available and quite possibly a manual transmission option instead of the 7spd automatic. Whether that interests you or not I don't know, but I would wait til they launch, the G37s left on the lot might have some serious mark downs.
I'm also with Deev. Nissan/Infiniti are decent cars mechanically, but have crap interiors. It's either that or owners just don't know how to take care of their investments. Not to mention I feel for the price you're paying for the exclusivity of a name, and not much else.Last edited by Joey GT-R; 02-26-2013, 10:40 AM.'94 JDM H22A: 178whp 146wtq

stay away from the 6speeds, the trannys like to stay in reverse factory recall
also the 7speed autos are thenths of seconds slower
they all bring the same engine, the S has different suspension, brakes, wheels, kit but the engine stays the same
the 10th anniversary brings different wheels, red interior on 4doors, lips, interior
the IPL is the only one that has higher hp, due to cat backs and a tune, different bumpers and sides, ipl badges, red interior etc.
all infiniti dashes tend to crack eventually, door strikers make noise, front brakes tend to vibrate due to a shitty dust shield, steering column make noise, differentials dont like old fluid, broken lower BJ cant be changed the whole knuckle has to be changed (fully aluminum $1000)
ps high psi hoses tend to leak, cam sensors tend to leak, etc
and 91+ oct required, they ping like crazy on oct

And since when is Infiniti in bed with Benz? That's a new one to me! Interesting.
The idea sounds kinda cool... but if they're calling it Q50, and it's not going to have a 5.0L, then it's going against Infiniti naming schemes since the start... and if they're replacing an otherwise successful and respected model with an inferior model performance-wise... they're shooting themselves in the foot!
I'd like to see this car as a new low-end model. Let this new thing be like Infiniti's TSX, the G can remain like Infinti's TL, and the M can remain as the RL (similarly forgotten... )

Oh yeah, I forgot Infinitis are what you do!

I'll have a G37 over an Evo any day. Actually, I'll have most things over a Mitsubishi.
I work at a Mitsu dealer. I drive Evos every day. I couldn't live with one. The G37 is a much nicer car all around. I say it's a no brainer.Last edited by crazymikey; 02-26-2013, 10:59 PM.

He's just saying it because we flamed the shit out of him for his SRT-4... mainly because every post was "sell your old accord and get a srt4 bro its better".
The Evo is a good car... it's just not a "nice" car. It's not meant to be. It's a kickass engine and transmission in a shitty econobox chassis. That's oversimplifying it, as there's much more to it...but the Evo was never intended to be a "nice" car (same with the STi, though that's a bit nicer... a bit.)
The G37 is intended to be a "nice" car. It won't offer the same level of raw performance as the Evo, but it'll provide respectable performance with a bit of class.
Mike, you should find yourself a used IS-F.
