    H22A swapped Odyssey

I saw this pop up on my local CL. Pretty sweet. I wonder if the swap is as straight forward as it is on our CB7s?

It is pretty much 100% identical to a CD5 install. A few minor differences that I could see, but easily achievable.

I read somewhere that there were one or two major pain in the ass aspects to the swap, but I can't recall what they were. Perhaps I'm thinking of manual transmission swap along with the engine swap...
But yeah, the 1st gen Odyssey is very closely related to the CD Accord.

Of course, for roughly $5000, you can get a 200hp swapped Odyssey that was somebody's project.
OR you could pay $5000 for a 2nd generation model with a J35, making 240hp.
(I know this isn't a "I want to buy this" thread... just an observation, really.)

Wasn't timmy0tool doing this a while back? Or maybe he just talked about it.

I would drive it as long as it came with the wheels in the second pic. The 2nd gen J35 has more torque and in a van I think that would be more useful.

I have a friend who own a H22, 5-speed Odyssey. He loves that thing. I had a first gen and a family member had the second gen. I loved the feel of it, it didn't feel like a van besides the height. Here is a video of my friend's van:

It always surprises me that people cannot show CL ads with consistent pictures.

If you are selling a vehicle, show it in the condition you are selling it. In this ad there are pictures showing it slammed, not slammed, slammed with different wheels, etc.

I know the ad talks about why this is...but simply show what's being sold. It's almost as bad as "wheels not included".

I'm going to have to agree with the obvious logic

An h22a swap in that odyssey isn't really a good investment of money when the 2nd gen makes more power and is better in just about every way than the 1st gen

It was a cool idea back when the earliest 1st gens were relatively affordable, and the earliest 2nd gens were still somewhat expensive.
It's still a pretty cool idea if you happen to have a beater Odyssey, and an engine to put into it.
But to buy someone else's swapped 1st gen for the price of a 2nd gen makes no sense.

you could say the same for our accords, why do an H22 swap when you could buy an 03 V6 6spd for about the same

I was actually going to say the same thing!

Of course, one argument for that is that the CB7 is lighter than many newer models, especially the V6 models. In a van, handling isn't really a major consideration. In a car, it's a bit more important.

But you can't buy an 03 v6 6 speed for less than $3k

I could go buy a $500 cb7 with a blown motor and put in a $1500 h22a. Not to mention there are alot of benefits to having our smaller lighter car. When it comes to a van, why would you spend the same money as a better van?

Why modify an old car at all? Why not just trade it in for a newer, "better" model? Alot less effort and hassle, isn't it?
