"Though" is an adverb, used in conjunction with the verb "hate". The comma is correct, just as it would be had I begun the sentence with "however", rather than ending it with "though". Essentially, it's a vocative comma. And yes, I would pause briefly when speaking that sentence. Very briefly, but enough to warrant a comma.

Once, I was at a car wash- and this man approached me, and offered help me dry the CB for $2 (it wasn't so low then, and I had a hard time with the roof.) He was well spoken, and clean. He had been a construction foreman, and because he was well over 50 when he got laid off, he had a rough time finding work. He did a good job, and I gave him a five.

I guess, maybe, I am naive. But I would rather err in being kind. I'm choosing to treat others as I would like to be.

I've given a couple people rides. This one guy... he was a big dude, tattoo'd, hairy, the whole nine. Came up to me at a gas station. He kept talking about God. I gave him a ride to meet someone at a Wal-Mart in the next town. One of the most nerve-wracking experiences I can ever remember, but nothing happened and I guess he was a nice guy. This was when I had my Accord with the H-swap, and he used to be into cars, so we talked.

Another night, more recently, a guy asked for $25 for gas. Well, it was more of a trade. He approached me while I was grocery shopping at like 12am, and (he had a food stamp card) kept offering to pay for what few groceries I had plus whatever else I wanted to get to $25 so I coud get cash back for him. It was a hassle, as I didn't want that much, those cards don't cover Honda Tuning, yada yada... I ended up just giving him the money for nothing, telling him to help out the next person in need. Pay it forward, you know. $25 isn't something I'll miss.

So yeah, every now and then I'll help people out. Not every one of them is out to screw you, and this country is full of assholes.

Ya. That video was crazy. I'd never give money to people like that.
But people in some areas that I've lived in who you constantly see sleeping on a bench or sidewalk is different. But I still don't give them money, I'm broke enough
