they are mostly an aircraft thing. But I've seen them on cars before, Usually downpipes on turbo cars. Do you guys drill the bolt heads yourself? I've seen jigs to make it nice and easy. But I wonder about the strength of the bolt head after being drilled like that.

you can drill the bolt but it is not FAA approved. at least as far as i know. all the nuts and bolts on a plane are FAA approved. and if it is ment to be wired it will have a hole in it. the holes are not that big. most are .032 which is the most common wire type.
as you can see here the holes do not compromise the integrity of the bolt. it is just ment to keep it from backing out

some of the bolts on a plane can be very expensive. some can go up to 50k just for one. the ones i deal with at school range from $100 to $20 a bolt. still quite expensive.

Here is a pic of a job i did to an oil press relief valve when i first got the pliers. they can be a bit hard to use at first if your used to doing it by hand. notice how it is pulling it to tighten it. you dont want it going the other way in flight

Hot damn that's an expensive bolt! My friend's dad is a head painter for gulfstream, but I've never seen much as to how assembly goes.

Got around to organizing my box.

Top, full of random shit and a light I made from a prosport gauge



First Drawer, screwdrivers, rivet gun, tubing cutters, pitch gauges and feeler gauges



Second drawer, standard and metric ratcheting wrenches, line wrenches



Third drawer, 3/8ths metric stuff, deep and shallow, impact, ratchets



Fourth Drawer, Pliers, oil filter wrenches, mini screw drivers and picks



Fifth drawer, air tools, gauge, die grinder, tq stick, 1/2in impact



Bottom, all sorts of random shit, everything 1/2in, brake caliper kit, funnels, battery chargers, misc wrenches and sockets

I have several boxes. The grey one I use regularly as the others contain mostly specialty tools. I threw in some other pics as well. Car lift, oxy/acetylene torch, gas mig, arc welder, hydraulic press, large vise, parts wash, drill press, what ever else you see.

As you can tell I'm cramped for space. The 3rd week of October I will have a new 21'x36' 3 bay metal building built which has been a long time coming as I cannot take the constant clutter any longer.
