it's about 10 bucks on the Coleman web site, all i did was type in "folding shovel" into the search bar on their web page. There were two reviews for it there and one of the two mentioned that it wasn't really that light in weight.

while on the topic of towels,

how about 10 towels that are so compact that it's about the size of a candy bar? just add water it says.

Flashlights, non battery powered, you can buy some that wind up and after a minute of winding it'll produce light for the next 20 minutes.

Glow sticks incase your with someone and need to separate at night

Chlorine tablets - clean water is a must

A deck of cards - the mind goes fucking mental after a few days of doing nothing all day and not having a conversation

A whistle - if you think you hear someone, blow it to let them know your around them

depends on if they are hostile or not, I wouldn't want to bring someone to me if they were going to rob me of my stuff. Now If i'm lost in the woods and was looking for help, i'd use a whistle but then again it'd probably echo off a mountain side and be counter productive. I think using a reflective surface like a polished piece of metal or the lens from your watch would be a more effective method of signaling for one's attention and over a good distance.

there is a list with a lot of good stuff you can consider adding .... for example water purification tablets, dental floss, wire saw, etc.

*edit* also I don't see a compass on your list or the survival kit either

Leung, I was thinking it was a survival kit for outdoors

But yes, a mirror is just as useful, easier to bring both

ah, you don't really need a compass. By using the sun or stars and constellations, at night, you can get your general direction.

A good way to organize a survival kit is to divide it into logical categories.

Our kits are divided as follows:

                    First Aid

                    Food and Water

                    Shelter

                    Signaling.

However, ours are also developed to only keep you alive for a few days until search and rescue can find you, so some alteration may be necessary.

Also remember that if you pack it, you have to carry it...

what im concerned about is the phone batteries. do you really plan on having those phones so long to where you need to store extra batteries? most people just have a model of phone for 2 years maybe 4.

i like this.but yah im packing a little different. definately going to get some MRE meals or freeze dried stuff and water purification tabs.

nourishment, first aid, and defence are basicly what im packing for.
im going to be hiding and running in a single direction. i already have a plan set in place with my girlfriend and my family. small group, move quick pack light. if evrybody has a job then its less stress on one person to bring everything.

the cell phone batteries are just because idk why not? its a power cell i could maybe use for something else. like i said in the first post. im not keeping my phone. while im running.

im meeting up at a checkpoint taking out my sd card keeping that battery so ill have 3 and chucking my phone in the lake.

no phones. reduce the chance of being tracked as easily. the only reason i have more than one battery though is because this is the 3rd evo 4G ive had and 2 screen replacements. my screen is currently cracked but i dont give a crap anymore. i hate this phone & i hate sprint. its not worth the $30 repair bill even though i have insurance on the phone to have them swap out a screen that might work just ok, and not have a fat spider web in it. idk how this phone was supposed to rival the iphone.

This would be more practical firearm solution, all fits inside the stock and fires 22lr rounds. This can easily be had for 100 bucks and ammo is cheap and light weight.
