Attn: people with low income and take prescription meds

I know someone else on here probably takes meds on a daily basis with low income, might be under insured or might not even have health insurance.

Try to save some of whatever money you have left in these tough times by looking for the drugs that you currently take on

    http://www.needymeds.org/index.htm

and sign up for any "Patient Assistance Program" that is available for that drug. I'm about to sign up for at least one because its so freaking expensive but i don't think i can go without it.

There is a HUGE list of drugs on there so more than likely whatever you're on, it's on that list besides medicinal marijuana.

Brand name drugs are insanely expensive, but generics are often made for considerably less (the second a patent runs out, the generics are released.) Most doctors prefer one brand or another (and usually stick to JUST that brand when writing scripts), so a good idea is to learn what the generic is... and yes, get them from a bulk warehouse retailer like that.

I do my best to avoid taking meds of any kind (I don't even take aspirin unless I really need it.) I don't have health insurance, and haven't since I was 18. I have no prescription drug coverage whatsoever.

Same here but I'm still searching for a plan that fits my needs and my budget as I'm considered self employed. One of my classmates originally told me about this website but I didn't really look too hard into it, it wasn't until I was started searching for a generic of colcrys that I stumbled on needymeds.org again.

Another good option would be to go talk to a local pharmacist. Pharmacists will know the ins and outs of the pharmaceutical market far more than doctors, and they could probably direct you to the best generic, and the best source for it. Most pharmacists I've met are really down to earth and willing to help (I'm a certified pharmacy tech... got my certification for shits and giggles last summer.)

Oh colcrys is a name brand drug, colchicine is the cheaper stuff that is no longer made so people with gout are at the mercy of URL Pharma the only producer of colcrys.

I need prescription assistance but most of the time for my medicine tere isnt really a generic option. I have chronic asthma and need fast acting inhalers that cost 40 bucks each month and i need a controller medicine that costs about 100 for a 90 day supply. So thats 400 for a year and 40 each month. So another 480 so in total about 1000 a year. A 1000 i dont have.

Forgot to mention i only make 13k a year. Im married and only i work.
