    Movie Talk

Let's talk movies. From recent movies we've seen to movies we want to see. From news we've heard that we like to news we don't like.

I recently sat through 'Cloud Atlas'. It was a great movie--after it was over, lol. I almost got up and left at one point and it wasn't until about 2 hours in that it starting making sense.

I'd like to see 'Wreck-It Ralph' and probably will.

Like most of us, I can't wait for Iron Man 3 and any new Marvel movies.

I've heard that Tony Scott was directing Top Gun 2 but his death has now put it on hold. Talk are that Paramount might release the first one in 3D until they can figure out what to do with part 2.

I've heard talks of Ferris Beuller 2. That might be nice. I've also seen the new trailer for World War Z. It looks interesting but IDK...

And the most recent news? Mark Walbergh is replacing Shia LeBeouf in the new Transformers. Now I'm a pretty big fan of Walbergh. I like most of his roles but then again, he usually plays the same character. I'm not sure if him stepping outside of his comfort zone will make for good cinema. And hopefully he doesn't play the same character IN the new Transformers, lol.

So what's everyone most looking forward to or not so much?

Seeing Skyfall tonight, looking forward to it as I've enjoyed Dainel Craig's Bond quite a bit.

I saw Argo a week or two ago and, while it was a very well done movie, it did not capture my attention as much as I thought it would. I suppose that's one downside to hearing a movie hyped up as much as I had.

Can we talk about movies that are old too? If so, I'm getting ready to spring for a new home theater setup and the first addition is going to be the extended Blu-Ray edition of The Lord of the Rings triliogy. So ready for it man.

Not sure if you're into reading subtitles or not but if you liked The Lord of the Rings, you'll probably like a Chinese movie called Red Cliff. If you manage to find the uncut version, shown only in Asia, it's like 3 or 4 hours of epic proportion battles.

Saw Wreck-It-Ralph with my gf and daughter. It was awesome. I like animated movies though. And all the video game references were a good treat considering we all play video games.

The Man with the Iron Fists is pretty good.

Other than being narrated by an Ice Cube like guy in ancient China....something about the way the story was told kinda cracked me up. But it was engaging, a lot of fight scenes, good climax at the end. Awesome weaponry used back then.

I left with a "full circle" feeling afterwards. No cliffhangers or disappointing feeling like that.

It was narrated by "The Rza", who played the role of "The Man With The Iron Fists".

Skyfall was pretty bad up until about the halfway point then it got really good. The visuals throughout the entire movie were incredible, except for the komodo dragons. The film work during the climax was incredible between the darkness and the flames. Overall, I'd give a solid B.

I have seen this on Amazon Prime's video list but haven't watched it. I'll add it the watchlist, thanks the suggestion.

Just watched a 12:15 am showing of Skyfall....it got out at 3am lol.

It was OK. It had a lot of action scenes, but to me, it felt like Bond was considered old and tired throughout the majority of the movie...not really what you want a secret agent type to be.

Definitely needed more car chase scenes and gadgetry...was lacking in that area.

I hardly ever see new movies in theater anymore. I live about 30 minutes from the nearest movie theater so getting out is usually a date night kinda affair. They just put a redbox about a mile from my house (in a small town, that's a big deal) so me and the wife have been having a few movie nights lately.

Here's what we've gotten into over the past week or so:

Hunger Games - I was confused as hell through the first 45 minutes. But after I had one of those "ooooooh okaaaay" moments it got interesting. I've never read the books so I can't comment on that, but it seemed to have a good story line.

The Avengers - Loved it. Though the copy we got outta redbox sucked and we had to skip a chapter or two, it was great. The big action scene at the end was incredible.

The Raven - I got really into it but i have to say the ending sucked. Wasn't the twist I was expecting.

That's My Boy - laughed my ass off. I love Adam Sandler.

Me and the wife plan to go see Dark Knight Rises at the $2 theatre sometime this week, and being a big Batman fan, I'm really excited about that.
We are all ricers, it just depends what flavor rice you are.

They still have "dollar" theaters??? I haven't seen one of those in over a decade. If you like Batman, you'll thoroughly enjoyed DKR. The ending is SPECTACULAR!

I'm yet to see any of Daniel Craig's Bonds. I prefer Pierce Brosnan and the older ones.

Just today I watched Goodfellas. And old movie, I know, but a classic. Casino, too. Not a fan of The Godfather(s). Yesterday I watched over 4 hours of Predator goodness. As I've gotten older, I've found a better appreciation and liking for movies like that. I used to hate older movies and couldn't wait for the new stuff. Now, it's pretty much backwards. I mean, I'm stoked for a few movies but not as much as I used to be.

On the subject of newer movies, I'm a little weary of the 4th Transformers. The more I think about it, the more unsure I become. Shia's been in it all along and he's a lead character. That'd be like killing off Optimus and replacing him with some other head autobot. It CAN work, I just don't know how well it will go over.

I'd rather see him pairing up with Harrison Ford in another Indiana Jones movie before i watch him in another Transformer movie.

Really?? I wasn't too fond of his character in Indiana Jones. I haven't really had a problem with him in transformers. I just wonder how they're gonna phase him out and explain why he's been replaced with, of all people, Marky Mark.

They could say it's 20 years in the future and his character aged or parallel world.

Just watched Wreck it Ralph with my brother and his two girls, totally awesome movie. Pac man, Bowser, M Bison, Zangief, and some other characters from games for that I can't think of all make cameos. Older gamers will probably like this movie.
