Back in the day, did any of you guys ever get approached by a cargo van with a couple of doods selling speakers? The excuse i always heard was that they were just installing speakers at a college fraternity house or something and someone at the warehouse loaded extra equipment into their van with no paperwork; so basically they were trying to unloaded it for cash before heading back to the warehouse. I never bought any of those speakers because 1) i couldn't test them and 2) how do i know they weren't stolen?
Google "white van speaker scam" ... The speakers work and aren't stolen, they're just junk. People buy them because they believe they are buying "hot" high end stuff at a crazy deal.
Freshman year in high school when I though I was the shit I bought stolen goods on accident. I was clueless. I thought Sony Xplode was the shit (they made great decks) and was telling some guy about the system I was going to buy. Met him in the McDonalds parking lot waiting for my girlfriend to get off work. He he had some Eclipse amps and subs (which I never heard of at the time). I bought two Eclipse 15's and a 2000W amp for $200 dollars brand new in box. Later came to find the amp alone was worth around $1000 dollars. Ignorance is bliss I guess. I called him a week later to ask about some stuff and as soon as I mention the sub he just hung up the phone. I figured his phone was tapped or something because he told me to call him if I ever needed anything and I think he assumed I knew what was going on and wouldn't be stupid about it.

if those subs were the silver series you deffenetly his paydirt.
Yeah, the vans selling audio equipment are common all over. It's real. It works... for a week. Probably a group of guys going in on a container of stereos from China... about $50 a pop... and then they sell them "cheap" for like $250.
It's legit enough not to be illegal, but still shady as hell.
