    Airline unions and deregulation

so im doing a research paper and would like the help of others, or at least to know what others think about this.

Airline Employee Unions and Their Impact on the Industry
(including how De-regulation effected Labor Relations)

unions are typically good, and deregulation can be good, however in the airline industry i cant tell if its good or bad, its good to de regulate so the industry can make its own calls but there needs to be some regulation i think, and unions have to fight for what they want and that causes delays in the industry.

airline company's want it to be cheap to fly, however the airline owners are concerned about their profit. and workers dont get paid enough so they have unions to fight so they get paid what they should for the labor they do. i dont even know where to begin about the deregulation, on one had it is good cause it makes it cheaper to fly, but on the other hand its not (some claim) and want to re regulate.

any ways, thanks for your input.

I know we have a member or two on here that work at Newark Airport in Jersey... though they may have been affected by the hurricane.

I could only give an opinion, and that would only be if I could be told what the current (or previous, I think you mention?) regulations actually regulated.

This is a really complex subject. No two cases are the same. There are many cases where unions were NOT beneficial to the company or themselves, and then there are unquestionable success stories like Southwest where they are not only wildly successful financially, but also heavily unionized. The aviation industry is hugely complex as it is the most regulated industry on the face of the planet with a lot of different factors at play.

I will see if I can write more later. What is the exact scope of the paper, what class, what viewpoint, what grade/degree level, and what exactly are you trying to discuss?
The OFFICIAL how to add me to your ignore list thread!

intro to aerospace, the view point im going for is to cover both sides, not put my opinion in but to give information. tho i feel from the title i was assigned, it seems like a bad thing.

thanks for that information, its helpfull.

If you are AVG or below AVG and you are afraid of getting fired a union is perfect for you. If you excel and are above avg and want full control of your career unions are bad, it reminds me of no kid left behind.
