At Your Request, Links to My Music : )

OK... for those of you who wanted to hear some of my stuff

    All Glory Fades

...still working on the 7-track acoustic EP, Lullaby is a pretty mellow tune and Song About A Boy is a little more "emo" or whatever u wanna call it

I;ll be posting up more as I finish it up -- hopefully the cd will be ready to go to mastering by May 1

I really like it...the inner punk rock kid in me wants a chorus to come in with distortion and stuff on that first song but I definitely dig it. It needs the vocals to be brought out a bit more tho...bu I know its just a rough mix.

The second song...you're harmonizing with yourself right? I like the TBS influence switching of vocals...my friend used to do that on his acoustic covers of their stuff. I dig the vocals tho...just cutting enough to be good. The mixing is good. Are you planning on leaving it raw on the mastering or are you going to touch it up...I think that song is pretty decent sounding right now.

    But anyways, good work

I don't have the master file to the second one - I was given a lucky chance in a studio with that one. I haven't decided yet if i'll redo it for the EP

yes i do all the vocals. I am still working and reworking/cleaning the first track plus one i haven't posted yet - it's wierd going back and forth between ProTools and iTunes - different speakers for the mBox that aren't my little computer speakers - so thanks for the tip on the vocal levels

And if I ever get a band together again (it is SO hard to find dedicated people), I will do full-band versions of some of my stuff plus i've been writing things that will only work loud and electrified ... you know ...

as for now the EP is only going to be 7-track and acoustic ...

thanks : ) there will be more to follow, I'm working on it as we speak

That's awesome...the second track definitely was EP ready as I heard it, I just saw that you said you were going to mix.

On the first one I think all the elements are there (vocals, music, etc) but I just think the levels need to be readjusted. There were just points i think you could boost the vocals.

Excellent work tho. I look forward to hearing the EP.

And i just realized the songs cut off at the end.. i guess it's my size limit -- yeah that won't happen on the EP, obviously : ) anywho...

SMashing pumpkins are the reason I play... the first song i ever taught myself was the "tonite Reprise" - the acoustic demo version of tonite, tonite and my influences stem from life, of course, and a lot of mid to late 90's alternative/ rock... my melodies come from not only music i hear mainstream, but also, don't laugh, from a lot of pieces we performed in my highschool choir - mostly from the harmonies and dissonace in certain chords

I almost stopped playing altogether cause 1. i get nervous in front of people and 2, i was thinking "who's gonna want to listen to a girl and a guitar?" - then this kid Joey made me listen to Dashboard Confessional my 1st year of college... and that was it

I gain inspiration from everything from this crazy d&b and Hard House my husband so dearly loves to my personal favs: brand new, tbs, kenna, postal service/ death cab for cutie... goddamn its a long ass list

I'm working on another track right now -- I have at least 20 or so songs.. its just a matter of recording them all

I'll be sure to keep you guys updated - thanks for the support

(ps. no i haven't heard of "my two friends" .. I should look them up -- and if they're based in san fran... hmm i wonder if they play live....)

"it's your turn to tell me, how does it feel to burn"

EXCELLENT. My favorite line. I have been recording some stuff but I havn't been singing yet. I think, myself, I have a decent voice, but I am afraid other people will think it is crap because I have never really sang in front of anyone. Got any pointers for me? Where you ever in these shoes?

                        Thanks

Alright. You have NO IDEA how bad I used to have that stage fright... but you gotta start w/ your closest friends - let them hear your stuff, cause you know that you can trust them to be honest without ripping you a new one

I've done a ton of choral solos throughout middle and high school, always nervous, i performed a cover of smashing pumpkins "by starlight" and one of my originals "our song" my senior year @ our HS talent show... i barely made it of the stage... i remember i stepped back behind the curtain and dropped to my knees, bawling... it wasn't until college - a presentation for my Portuguese class, where i talked about playing guitar and then played - and my class loved it.. so the next time we partied, this guy i was dating from that class... i remember we were at one of Tilly's big drunk fests - it was like 3am - and about 10 or 15 of us were crammed into this kid nick's bedroom... mostly sobering up -- and nick made me play the guitar he got from his frat

...i could've died - such an intimate audience... but i made it... and that's how it was - whenever Tilly had a big party @ his house - a bunch of us in the end would end up upstairs w/ me playing the guitar ... it got less scary for me so by the time i moved back home, i started going to local coffee shops and playing gigs. It's not that ve ever met much resistance with people not liking my music (or my voice... which i believe is my best instrument) - it's that i never had the faith in myself

...but that's my little story - it took late nights playing in front of a bunch of people winding down from some major partying to get me through it. I don't know what will work for you, but you'll find it -- just start w/ close friends

                            thanks, and good luck

When the EP is ready, I'd like one for sure.
