It's a lousy rainy day out, and I'm really wanting to play some old PS1 games. I don't feel like digging out my PS2 and hooking it up!
At the moment, I'm trying to play Final Fantasy VIII. I have the actual CD in the drive. I've ripped that CD to an ISO using Nero, and I've downloaded a pirated copy as well. The result is the same.
I've used emulators of all types in the past with no problems... mainly with Windows 2000 and Windows XP. This is the first I've tried with Windows 7, and it's not working.
I've searched on Google and read plenty of things about running it as an administrator, running it in compatibility mode (WinXP SP3, SP2, and even Win98). No dice. I've restarted my computer, redownloaded the emulator and all plugins. Nada.
I'm able to start the program just fine. I configure all plugins just fine. When I attempt to load the CD or ISO, it instantly says "this program has stopped working". The problem details are:
I've tried other emulators that I've previously used before, such as adripsx and pcsx... but the results are equally bad. I can get it to run in adripsx, but I have no control, and the video looks awful. It has also crashed my computer once, so I'm staying away from that. That program was always one of the more unstable ones in the past anyway.
