I miss my car, guys

So basically I was in an accident a few weeks ago, my fault. Any way my radiator support bent a little and hood bent and latch messed up and I'll give more details if anyone cares.

But I keep getting told I'll be helped by one of my ex-bosses that works at a body shop, but he keeps telling me how busy he is and blah blah blah. I only have liability insurance so I'm paying for everything out of pocket. Today, I went out and deleted my cruise control since I was bored; just starting it up and driving it down the street makes me sad

This is my first car and I've had it for almost five years and this is the first time I haven't been able to drive it. The bumper is intact it's just the headlights, grille, radiator support (beams?) that go over the radiator and driver side headlight that are bent. Nothing's leaking either, however, I keep hearing different things about whether I can drive it or not but I can't afford a ticket if I did. Anyways it just really sucks. I'm having to drive my dad's suburban that gets 17 mpg and I just don't like it as much as my car.

Sorry, just had to let out the sadness rant But I'm sure there's people out there that know what I'm feeling.

i know that feel bro. My CB is my first car and i would be devistated if she got wrecked. Every time i pas a truck with some crushed car on it it makes me sad that my car will one day have the same fate.

Yeah man. I don't have any plans on letting it go and I'm going to keep it as long as I can but still it just sucks. Plus all the Accords around here aren't anything to write home about, but they're everywhere and every time I see one it just makes me miss it more.

Sorry to hear, but photos of the damage will help us determine how easily and quickly it can be repaired.

^Didn't touch bumper so that's one less piece and luckily hoods are decently cheap around here.


^ Can see most, if not all damage really. The only pieces I can really tell aside from bits broken off headlights are the latch and the metal pieces that go over the radiator and driver headlight.

Pretty much. So far I've been having to. I'm either going to need to cut the driver headlight piece out or get a whole support which I don't want to do unless necessary. I don't know how to weld, at least not good enough to do the job so either way it's going to have to go to the shop.

Look up TracieS thread on rad support replacement. It's not that bad and most of the parts you can snag in a JY in a day.

Thanks I'll check it out. I know the middle piece just comes off with the radiator brackets along with the middle piece that goes up and down. But it's the driver headlight piece that's being the problem child.

Also, jcwhitney has a new radiator bracket for our cars if you can't find a junk yard one. I think it is around $75, search for more things from them and combine shipping then look for coupons for free shipping over a certain amount. Hope this helps you get back on the road.

When you go to the junk yard to pull headlights, be sure to get the whole bracket behind the lights. I'm still needing this myself, but until then zip-ties are my friend. I bought my CB7 with similar front end damage and t-bone damage. Anything is possible and it only gets cheaper when you are willing to put in the work. You also gain personal knowledge and faith in your skills and personal value in the car. Another bonus is that it stays off a carfax report, incase you sell it in the future. Your damage looks to be only cosmetic so that is .

Yeah that's what I did. There's a junkyard that has hondas and toyotas about 45 minutes away and I went up there just to see what's what and I was going to get the middle piece with the brackets and piece that goes up and down for 40 dollars. That was until I knew I was going to have to for sure either get a whole support or cut and weld. But I also have one pieces that, luckily, I hadn't put in yet and I also have a grill.

I really don't mind doing the work. I know a guy at a body shop and I've been trying to either get him to let me sit in on watching it get done or help myself. I can do everything except the welding. Thanks for the help though

Edit: Were you talking about a bracket that doesn't come on the headlights normally?

All I see you needing if you have 1 pc headlights and grill is a hood, rad support, and light supports. Easy peasy fool, git-r-done... Did the radiator hit anything? Do your fans still work?

Oh, I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about but when I get a chance I'll go out and look. Yeah that's basically all I need. It's just going to be coming down to the dirty work which is cool I just wanna know what I'm doing before getting started. And I checked out Tracie's thread and it had a lot of useful info in it so to you.
