I really think its just your engine being so tired with all those miles. A car with 340,000 miles has a lot of wear internally, so things won't be as efficient as they used to be.

Have you done a compression test to see what the cylinders are all at?

I think my local Krogers has switched to the winter blend of fuel already. With this new job where im driving a lot, it seems like my gas gauge dropped faster than normal yesterday. I always fill till it clicks to stop and by the time my shift is over, i only used a third of my tank. Yesterday though, i used half a tank and drove the same number of miles as i normally have. I have to fill up again this morning but ill. Edit this post with my MPG number according to the fuel log app.

        *edit

Well according to Fuel Log, i only got 28.5mpg using Kroger's gas yesterday. This morning i filled up at Speedway and my fuel gauge dropped slower even though i drove basically the same route as yesterday.

Here in Texas, we don't notice winter gas, because we gain mpg by being able to turn off the air conditioning.

EDIT: On another note colder air equals denser air, which equates to more gas, and more should more power (unless it gets below freezing temps).

i have a 16 gal tank, with my f22 i tried to see the best gas mileage i could get, 5speed. and when i filled up i got 15.3 gals it was around 450-500 miles.

Now i have a jdm h22 with f22 tranny, and i run 93 sunoco and shell only. and im only gettin 18 mpg, cracking vtec at least 6 times a day. ( i drive to work and school and hoping on to highways ill take off)

18mpg seem right? because i cant touch 300 miles to the tank, i hit 250 then fill it

My cb has a 17 gallon tank. Last week i was under the E and i went to fill up and i filled 16.2 gallons in it. At 4.98$ a gallon for 91, i ended up paying in total 80 bucks! Also i get roughly about 350 miles per tank. That includes the mods that i have and also an exhaust leak. So imagine without my leak lol.

Im thinking something isnt right with your car. Something has to be off. And also you have 340,xxx miles?!!? If thats true then be glad youre getting 250+ lol i thibk if i had those miles i wouldnt mind at this point.

I usually get 300-320 on my H22 Coupe with M2B4 LSD tranny and F22 5th gear. Thats around 23-24 mpg with usually a 13-14 gal fill up. I hit VTEC every other acceleration almost lol

But our tanks are all 17.1 gallons for every CB7.

Really, so my light must come on at the 3 gallon mark then. Crazy, I could go a long way on that!

the only thing i can think of is ambient air temps...cooler air makes it run a bit more rich while hotter air tends to lean it out (but still be safe)

sometimes my light comes on then goes away very quickly.
Sometimes I go longer than I should but once it starts to stumble its scary!!

Yesterday it stumbled and died at a gas station with out the light being off So I guess my meter is off or my pump is going to die soon.

I have to agree with the op. My gas millage also gets shitty during the winter. All summer I was averaging 25 mpg all city driving. Now since my last 2 fill ups im lucky to get 20 mpg. The only thing that's changed is the temperature and Imo the gas. I just did a full tune up back in july too. So im not sure what it is, however like I said Imo its something with the gas.
