I've sold thousands of sets of wheels, and really can't tell a difference between who makes what. Yeah some of them are finished better than others, but if there is road construction, and its bending rims, I don't see one brand more than others. Now I did have a fake set(I do think they were fake)3 pc forgiato's come to my shop. I had a set of mht, and a set of Asanti 3pc wheels at the same time as the fake forgiato's. the barrels were super soft, and they kept leaking from the bead seat. I've only sold two sets of them, but recall them being of the same quality as other 3pc wheels, and not soft like they were. I may get a chance to find out if they are fake, as dude bent two of them and sold them. Iam suposta get 2 replacement barrels for them, so I will have the ones I think are fake and 2 I know are real. But it would piss me off to no end to know I payed that kind of money for a set of wheels to find out they were fake (were talking almost $1500 a wheel) forgiato's website even says "beware of fakes"


And to clear it up, no I didn't sell the wheels I think are fake, the customer brought them to me to see if I could get them to stop leaking

Most wheels that pass various international road safety requirements are going to be just fine for most use. Some will even hold up to racing, especially with lighter, less powerful cars. I'd trust driving hard with a set of Rotas on my Fit much more than I would on my CTS-V. The CTS-V weighs about 1300lbs more than the Fit, and makes nearly 4x the power.
Forged metal IS stronger than cast metal. It's a simple fact. It's the reason we upgrade to forged engine internals when doing a high power build. Forged takes more abuse, withstands more strain, and lasts longer overall.

Come to find out...it's not really hard to fake a multi piece wheel, anyone with access to a Cnc can do it, as you can order barrels and blanks for the centers. It's easier than making a mold and having someone cast the wheels. All you need is one original for measurements
