    Who knows their foam?

I'm wanting to know what you would call the type of foam used in most home-use weather stripping rolls you can buy at the hardware store. It differs from packaging foam and I think the cells are more dense. I'm trying to find large sheets of it that I can purchase either locally or online. Can anyone give me a name of that particular type of foam to aid in searching? Thanks a lot.

Some foams are made of silicon, EVA, CR, LC, NBR\PVC, PU or EPDM rubber. The ethylene propylene diene monomer (M-class EPDM) rubber foam is the one that is most commonly found in rolls for door stripping at hardware & DIY stores.

I have a foam roof on my house, what type would that be?

Dang Ghost, I almost need you to dumb it down for me. Would a large sheet roughly 4' x 8' be available for purchase commercially? If not that size then enough to cover a combined area that large with minimal breaks. I'm looking to emulate the under-carpet padding found on a lot of higher end cars but I don't know enough about the raw product.

In a large city like Houston what type of stores would carry this type of foam?

How close are you to Arlington? Right down the street from me is a company called Miamicorp and their website says they have a location in Arlington.

i bet they could hook you up but id imagine any company that does car interiors could carry car carpet padding.

Foam is basically a material that has a significant amount of trapped air. What the material is that is trapping the air varies greatly

I would source it from McMaster-Carr, they have a wide selection of durometers.

Polyurethane foam is what Mercedes Benz uses. Also JC Whitney has some floor foam in stock that you can select from a luxury car and just chop what you need. I estimate cost to be a wash between the two. Maybe $50 + shipping tops.

You could also go fancy and get this, but spend more:
