Your best bet is to do without the phone for a while, you don't want to try and power it on too soon. Play it safe and let it sit for a few days. also If you have any pills take the moisture pack out of the bottle and throw it in with the rice. If you don't have any you can get some beef jerkey as they typically have them too.

yeah, I'm pretty sure I've fucked it, because I tried it this morning and I got a blue power light and it changed all sorts of colours and then the phone itself was making all weird electrical noises, kind of like a hard drive and then shut off after the keypad lit up.
All I need is contacts from it. Guess i"ll go to the Bell store and see.
I've got it in a bag full of rice still with the battery, back cover and faceplate removed.

One day in rice wouldn't be enough. You may have actually shorted the phone by turning it back on with moisture still inside it.
