I think its in the tune cause the F22A4 and A7 have higher compression ratios than the F22A1-4-6.

I just ordered one of those ECU's on eBay from Great Britain. It says its going to be here on the 20th. Can't wait to try it out see if its really worth the $150 I payed for it.

The F22A3 and F22A7 both have 9.8:1 compression ratio and camshaft with fairly aggressive lobes. When looking at the camshaft specs the difference between the F22A3/7 camshaft and the F22A6/F22B6 camshaft is about twice what the difference is between the F22A6/F22B6 and the F22A1/4/F22B2 camshaft.

If there was ever an F-series that could benefit from an H22/H23 plenum, it's this one.

And in case anyone is wondering, the F22A3 and F22A7 are the same exact engine. The only difference is that the F22A3 was the sedan variant and the F22A7 was reserved for the CB8 Aerodeck.

Yeah, it would definitely be helpful to have that info on here. The Euro market is still a bit of a mystery compared to everything else. It'd be nice to know the details about what makes the most badass F22A engines so badass

I wonder if an H23A1 intake manifold on an F22A3/7 would end up making more power than the F22B DOHC.

No, that ECU won't do you much good without the matching engine.

IMO you would be better off spending the money on a tunable EMS/ECU and tune your engine properly. Using an ECU that is meant for a specific engine will not add power to a lesser one.

Now if you actually had an F22A3 or A7 and wanted to run it in stock trim. The stock EDM ECU would be what you are looking for. it is tuned for that engine and it's specific components.

I agree with you Ghost, I really do.

I got to test out the ECU today. Its pretty nice and runs the engine good, however it doesn't seem like its the best alternative. I don't know for sure. Going to upload a video when I get my speed sensor fixed. Yeah its busted, gonna have to wait to fix it.

I started from the same place you are at now and I did it as cheaply as I could back then. The best purchase I made was a couple tuning books. I will dig through my library and find the titles for ya. IIRC They can be purchased online for $20-$30.

DIY hardware and tuning software is the easy stuff to find. Actually understanding how all the sensors, solenoids and valves work to help you tune is the hard part. Knowing the most about how all the PGMFI components work together is the biggest advantage..... No amount of money or hardware can replace knowledge. Unless you are paying for someone with knowledge to do the work for you.

Took me at least 2 years learning to tune my truck, just picking away at it a little at a time. Runs great now, still not the fastest but I learned a whole lot in the process. There is no quick fix on the DIY/budget build path, but you get the greater award of learning something new that you can use in the future.
