Price for 3 motor mounts and a tranny mount?

So my wifes cousin has a 2002 Maxima.

He claims that he has to replace 3 motor mounts and a tranny mount and it will cost a g.

I know labor is intensive but a grand?

So is that on point or is he getting taken?

Ive never bought motor mounts but even if they are 100-150 a peice, that still shouldn't be a grand.

I don't know, maybe im out of the loop.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

If it were me I would just try to do it myself.

I was quoted $250 for a rear mount replacement on my 5th gen Prelude.

well i was looking at courtesyparts.com which sell sells genuine Nissan parts and just the right one alone is either 226 bucks for an automatic one or only 98 bucks if it is a manual. the left one is only 130 regardless which transmission. the rear varies from 102-201.

I guess if he ordered the parts himself and someone helped him install it them, he'll can save some money.

They could be expensive, depending on what kind of mounts they are. The Maxima is actually a pretty high-end car (not really on-par with anything Honda offers... more along the lines of the Toyota Avalon), and the mounts may be some high-tech crap. Hydraulic/electronic and whatnot. See what they go for on ebay, then double that price to get an idea of what quality mounts would be.

Try to find a DIY on one of the forums and do it yourself.

It's not his car... and I don't think he feels like doing it either!

That's a good point, though. It might be a pain in the nuts job, and the crazy pricetag is basically saying "I really don't want to do it, but if you pay me $1000, I will."
I found 2002 Maxima mounts, a complete set, on ebay for under $100. Shipped. $175 for a set that includes a solenoid (I assume something like CB7s have in the automatics.)

Hey if hes got the time and the money he can get it done if hes concerned that its a $1,000 bucks. And whos to say if the shop will even do it correctly.

I'd grab those $100 mounts and offer to do it for $500!

4 mounts (My wholesale price not shoping around, local parts place)
                        $150 for the variable one
About $50 each for each of the other three

                        $300 parts
                        Mark up ABOUT 30%
                        $400 in parts

That job probably books like something crazy like 8 hours .. (but I am away from my work computer to look it up)

But I would charge 2 to 2.5 hours.
                        Like $200 in labor

                        $600 total

If they go full book on labor and full msrp on parts I can see 1k+

But its a 2002 Maxima, worth very little, relative simple job that's why I would do it for the 2.5 hours.

BTW I did this same job before on a Maxima
