Cali's been like that for years though. I don't see much trickle effect yet.

I came from Ontario, which is like the Canadian equivalent of California when it comes to automotive laws. Now I live in Alberta and I could pretty much drive a hot rodded combine with farm plates as my daily driver if I wanted to lol.

thats what i was least looking forward too when I found out from my parents we were moving here and Delaware was the same way anything could be driven anywhere as long as it passed inspection and you had the fifty bucks for the tags and that hot rodded combine thing has me rolling over here hahahahahaha.

Makes me miss the days in Delaware where 50 bucks got a year of tags and cops didnt look for reasons to take imports off the road.
yea thats why i put like 200 dollars on every title transfer. i still get raped...probably spent 1200 on dmv transfer fees in the last two years.

anyways, id rather get a speeding ticket then get my hood popped and have the whole car gone through.

I've got it pretty good here. $84 bucks for tags for a year, no emissions inspections, and my insurance company does not even require safety inspections, unless it's an out of province vehicle.

I've bought cars out of the junkyard, insured and driven them.

AND, our title transfer fee is $22. You pay nothing else.

I go and buy a new car, I go to the registry/DMV with my proof of insurance and bill of sale, and $22 gets that car in my name, plated and on the road.

Lol, a Honda forum at that.

I've gotten a speeding ticket in every county around me at one point or another. Not that I'm proud of it. My first was around $160. Got another in a larger county and that was $224. Another I got was $150. I suppose I guess it depends on the county/state you're in.

It's crazy seeing how much you guys pay in title transfers and tag/tax fees. For me to change a title its $18. My tag is $20/year and taxes are like $11-12.

Haha well that night I felt like a bad guy having a speeding ticket. Yes its my first ticket ever ( from the CHP); Even though i was going 20 over the speed limit; I cannot attend driving school. I know for sure my insurance is going to go up..

Also CHP have the right to tell you "pop the hood". Its common here in cali. Either you pay $400 or you pay $25 and make your car back to bone stock again.

To give you an idea I recently got a speeding ticket in San Bernardino county for going 90 in a 70. Officer wrote it for 80 being nice enough since it was my first ticket (didn't argue I knew what I did). The fine itself was $242, and on top of traffic school and some other fees it came out to $333. I think it depends on your previous infractions and the county that cited you. Oh and in California now, attending traffic school does NOT erase your infraction off of your record; it just remains confidential. This means the cops know what you have done but the insurance companies don't.

It's been so long, I don't remember my first. I got off with a warning today. I had Ruby out for the first time in a long time. I'm tired of driving the automatic and I was mad today, so when I got out on a 2 lane main road, I jumped on it in first and second, ready to go for third when a local cop comes over a rise in a group of cars coming at me. I hit the brakes until just as he passed me, but I saw the lights come in the rear view mirror. I probably could have gotten away for the moment, but the car is pretty recognizable with the quarter panel and rear window and bumper missing. I pulled off the next side street (very visible from the road I was on) and stopped. I waved at the cop as be blasted by (assuming I was still running). It took him a minute to turn around again and come back. He pulled up next to me and said, "Thanks for stopping, I clocked you at 62 in a 40. Slow down", then he left.

Piece of advice, don't wait until it gets to you in the mail, go to lasuperiorcourt.org and search with your DL and you'll see the ticket and how much you ow. If you just let it sit, it might comeback as a late ticket and there may be other fees and what not. Usually they give it to you in the spot, idk why he sent it to you in the mail. And for being your first one you should be five just like everyone said its going to be like $100 to $200. GL and slow down!

In Va typically it's a dollar amount per MPH over the posted speed limit. I think its something like: 25+ mph zone is $5/mph over, 45+ mph zone is $4/ mph over etc. Thats in Va. I will say this though, fight all of them. I used to just pay the fine. First time I go to fight it, judge calls me and 4 other people up. "Your charges are dismissed, the officers equipment wasn't working properly that day." I would have lost my license for 30 days on that one. Thankfully I havent gotten a speeding ticket in over 2 years and am no longer on probation.

Pop your hood laws sound stupid. I sure hope that doesn't get out past CA. I know Florida has very loose laws. I saw a dude with his whole windshield tinted.

The last time i received a speeding ticket was on my way to DUBC. (west chester university) and the cop got me going 90 in to 45. I had other stuff on me and he smelled it. I got out with him and he put me in cuffs. Took my stuff cause i told him exactly where it was and let me go.

I got two tickets that night(in person). Underage (instead of paraphinalia and poession of a controlled substance) and speeding without points. I ended up paying around 200 for the underage and around 100 for the speeding.

All in all that was my first actual ticket. I've been pulled over for speeding ALOT mainly only on Route 1, I95, or the roads down to the shore. I guess the F.O.P tag save me a lot and also the USMC decal i have on the window for my cousin in the core.

But yeah man they SHOULD GIVE IT TO YOU IN PERSON because the very first time i was pulled over and this was back in 07 right when i got my license i was going 110 in 55 on route 1 and an under cover staty got me or so i thought.

Long story short i called my mom freaking out and she called up the police station the next day and they had no record of any officer pulling over a 97 park ave.......to this day never received anything.

But since it is your first offense (i mean no underage drinking, shoplifting, ect.) it should not be too high. Good luck OP!

screw that. My first ticket a few months ago ( im 29) was 71 in a 55. It was 371 dollars!

And be warned, they dont send tickets through the mail any more. You have to go to DMV's website. It will take a couple of weeks to post.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

                            Retro!

My first ticket was in my 3rd gen. 71 in a 45 and it was a $460 ticket. My next big speeding ticket was 109 in a 70 in my 91 Ex. I was arrested for that one and it cost me $950, 2 years probation, and a driving class. Now i simply dont speed.

In Georgia, they've started super speeder laws last year I think. If you're going 25 over in any county its an additional $200 on top of whatever your fine would've been. I got a ticket 2 or 3 years ago going 14 over in a 40. My fine was 140. If I had been "superspeeding" , my fine would've been 340.(assuming the fine was only 140...which it wouldn't be) my friend got caught super speeding and her fine was 500 + the 200 from the new law. So 700 bones. Almost makes you want to drive a scooter...almost.
