Found a 9091 Phoenix Red coupe...

For a couple months at a local mechanic, there's been a rather nice looking Phoenix Red DX coupe sitting outside. 2 days ago, said coupe got moved to vacant lot behind the dealership I work at, as that shop owns the land behind our dealer.

I wandered over and looked over the car. Clean body. One spot of quarter panel rust, less than my car. Straight body. Nice black interior, 5 speed and 287 000km, with new looking snow tires on it.

I went down to the shop it was at and inquired about it. The guy said they put a new slave and clutch in it a few months ago, and then the girl that owned it burnt up the new clutch because she's useless at driving a stick. She didn't want to put any more money into the car so she signed it over to the shop.

He was like "I was thinking maybe I could fix it up and get like $2500 for it" and I was like "On a good day, and feeling really generous, I might offer $1200 if it's all fixed up. But for now, I'll offer you the $500 you have into it."

He said he'd think about it because the car just got signed to him and he hasn't decided what to do with it yet.

I've been eyeing this car since I first saw it, and I want it either as a winter beater, or for parts so I can do a real black interior in my car.

I don't think it'll pan out. From the initial conversation, the guy has $500 into the car and he's trying to scam me to pay "retail" price for what the car is worth, which to him is $2500 and I laughed REALLY hard when he said that.

But then, I did sucker a guy into paying $2500 for my SE.

In the end, I got the better end of the deal, including him smashing up the car and bring it back to me and paying more money for me to fix it.

So I actually got $3100 out of it.

how are you going to deal with the manual crank windows when yours are power? along with the door locks and side mirrors? You're willing to sacrifice that just to have black interior?
