I watch canadas worst driver religiously and the host (andrew younghusband - really cool guy to talk to btw) frequently expresses his fear of bad drivers attempting challenges. i didnt know there was a dutch version, but looks like those fears are legit!

Wwwwwoowwww. I never understood why lesser experienced drivers opt for the gas pedal when they panic instead of the brake. He could have killed that fucking guy, he SHOULD have killed that guy. Sheer luck was on his side.

What was that supposed to be anyway? A brake test? What it looks like when you run through a foam wall?

It was a tv show. A challenge. The driver was supposed to look behind him as if checking for other cars, then quickly avoid hitting the wall. Instead, he slammed the gas, cut the wheel, and covered his face.

The comments on the Youtube page tell a lot, as do the subtitles (thanks Todd, I didn't even think of that! I didn't go to the Youtube page at first, just watched on here.)

Strangely enough, I often find that inexperienced drivers will go for the brake when they SHOULD be going for the gas. I've avoided many accidents by accelerating quickly, rather than stomping the brake and being right in the path of danger. Granted, that comes with experience, as well as an intimate knowledge of my car and its capabilities.

                    This right fucking here

Being familiar with your vehicle will help in avoiding most accidents, and slamming on the brakes is probably the worst thing you can do. In Canadas Worst Driver, every season they teach that steering is more important than braking in most types of accident avoidence, and the fact that my car is still in one piece is excellent evidence of this (epic evasive maneuvering skills ftw)

one reason why i wished i had an automatic because most times i don't have the time to downshift instead i just punch it to get into another lane. luckily i downshift religiously when coming to a halt.
