At $265 every week, I would be completely broke! But you gotta make a nice chunk of change in order to have that much taken out!

Heres what i have going on today, figured out this 87 vette we have here needs the intake gasket replaced, wont idle under 1200, the tps was outta whack a bit, set it and got it to idle. This was all while he was off playing, comes back back and tells me im wasting my time with the thing. Its been here going on three weeks. Know what hes done all day? Played with the new truck he bought last night, really thats it. We have cars to do and hes workin on his own shit while im busting my ass here. Its lunch time and im on my break. Ive got a four cars in the shop 3 on jackstands and 1 on a pull over inspection lift. Seriously I gotta find a new job, starting to feel like a digruntled employee.

Honestly I think it pissed him off I figured out what was wrong with the vette, either way my point is when you have a lot full of work, how can you afford to work on a truck that can wait. This is what I mean by priorities guys, he none. Sux for me....

Sucks for you because you have got it twisted.

His priorities are not to provide awesome service or to make employees happy.

His priority is to make money and keep himself happy, and it sounds like thats what he is doing.

As a business owner you have that right. Don't like it, work somewhere else.

Dont slander the guy for doing shit his way though, hes the owner. He can fail all he wants.

I think you really are just mad about making peanuts for a paycheck and being over worked.

And yeah, that does suck for you.

Yeah im mad, its called being exploited, what you failed to mention though is if he fails I fail, how is that fair to me. Its my reputation as the one doing the work. When things go wrong due to shabby parts being reinstalled customers come back, and when they do its my shabby work. I take pride in my work and my name, but that doesnt mean im to stupid to not know when Im being taken for granted. See I value good quality work and know first hand how it feels to work hard for your money and get stuck for it. It is essential for ppl in my/our profession to handle things the rite way the first time. Not, if it comes back well just make more money off them next time. Sounds to me like you may live by the same standards of automotive exellence as him. Maybe you should come work for him, huh? I know Lifes not fair, rite? You do know that slander is making accusations on someone under false pretenses, invalid fact or lies. Im not doing any of the above.

Does he warranty the work done? Or is it done as-is when it leaves the shop?

I understand how you feel with the petty paycheck. Been working as a mechanic at a bowling alley for the past 4 years and only make $8/hour. Ridiculous money but if things run good I don't work too hard. Luckily I'm not stuck here where I can't look for other work.

Good luck on getting the hell outta there.
We are all ricers, it just depends what flavor rice you are.

Minitrucker by heart, CB7tuner by coincidence.

Yeah he does warranty the work, which is why its so frustruating to me, why take the risk of having to do things over when you can do it rite to begin with and be done with it...Thing is i dont want to find another job, I love my job, i love working on cars and the experience im getting with different makes. I just hate having to redo work that coulda been avoided, plus it looks bad on us and the shop.

Yeah i hear that! I worked at a small shop for 5 months after i got out of school.I was being paid 9.50/hr 7am-5pm off sundays alternating saturdays. The guys that worked there were ase master techs and i was the fresh outta school guy.I can say i've been overworked.the first car i got was a 97 chevy suburban that needed a new engine put in.i had to do the work myself and it took me 10 days to do the motor.the guy was pissed. From then on i was doing engine swaps and trans rebuilds, never took breaks.the other guys got the easy work like calipers, timing belts, tires. then one day i had a friend of mine bring her cb7 in to get a major tune-up ,tires, and the front brake lines changed, the boss told me since it was my friend i couldnt work on her car.i was a little pissed but kept working. The guy did ALL the work in 2 hours.NO fukn way!I thought at least the timing belt would take that long to do.She paid 700 to get all the stuff done.He let the car go and the next day i get a call from her telling me that her mom took her car because hers wasn't starting and that she LOST ALL BRAKES and into the back of a school bus(empty fortunately). the car was totalled and the roof was peeled off but her mom had no injurues fortunately.I asked the guy if he had changed her brake lines and he replied"it's a honda, they never go bad so i wiped them clean and left them alone. " the only thing i remember doing was snapping and knocking the guy out stone cold and raising hell in the office the owner told me that he doesn't give a shit how the work is done as long as "his workers" produce something that looks good.I was stunned and pissed off from what i had heard from the owner.I quit immediately.I still dont understand how a man who has worked in a porsche dealership for 30 years tell me that brake lines never go bad?? I now think im gonna open up my own shop with friends and do honest work fully knowing that peoples lives are in my hands when i do the work.RIght now i went back to being a emt which pays me 17/hr and id rather not work for anyone anymore in the auto mechanic business.

you have to be careful on working on brake systems because if something malfunctions then people can get seriously injured. it ain't something to be fucked with. id knock that fucker out too.

Gah, you guys should look into the diesel field. This shit is much easier and pays more. The only cars I work on are my own. Something to think about and to the op theres plenty of past felons here.
