i graduated high school back in 2001 with a Special Diploma, couldn't take regular college classes till i got a GED as well. i started for a short time studying for that at the community college. (was on the campus in September when NY and DC were attacked) got burned out on it real quick. procrastinated for a few years. went back and took the test and passed first time. i think i procrastinated a little longer. finally got papers filled out for financial aid and got registered in the summer of 06 i think it was. finally graduated in December 2009. got my AAS in Automotive Technology from my Community College.

A Bachelors today is pretty much what a high school diploma was to our parents' generation. A Masters will be the same to our kids, I'm sure.
The only other thing that can really be useful is learning a specialized skill. My friend dropped out of college when he got his girlfriend pregnant with twins unexpectedly. He is now a hydraulic mechanic, and one of the top mechanics at his company. Because his skill is so specialized, he's very valuable to the company. They pay him well, and his job is pretty secure because he'd be difficult to replace.
I didn't really want to do management but the college I am going to excepted all of my CC credits and I only had to do 60 more to get my BAS.H22 Prelude VTEC 92-96 200 161 10.6:1 87 90 DOHC VTEC 2157 JDM

and i kinda fit into that last part. life safety systems is a good career in louisiana because of the strong oilfield and industrial ties. and while i wouldnt necessarily consider CAD a specialized skill, id consider having proficient CAD skills on top of fire marshal and nicet certifications for lss engineering a nice package. it allows me to do all of our drawings and design work with mild oversight, where as in the past a technicians cad drawings had to be reviewed and signed off on by someone with a nicet cert (my boss), and my boss's time is major money compared to my time.
right now i make a relatively good salary based on louisiana's cost of living, with room to go up as my nicet certifications go from 1 to 2/3/4

Trade school for HVAC. Couldn't get any work in the field. Didn't enjoy the work at my placement enough to further pursue working in the field. So now it's basically just something on my resume.
Commercial driver's licence and air brake ticket on top of that.
That's all I've got. I never had any plans to go to college/uni after high school. I hate school with a passion. You put me in a classroom and I want to do is get out if I haven't already fallen asleep.
I learn better out in the open, hands on. Books and writing bore me and shut my brain off.

well I'm going to finish my AA for thetre arts since I only need one more class to complete it. It's pretty much worthless but i figure I started it so might as well have it. I only really like acting, painting, drawing, and writing music. That's what I had fun doing but getting a degree for that seems pointless, either you're good or not. I'm decent and when i practice I always get better but those are more hobby-ish things. I'd have a real hard time making money off of that realistically. If I'm going to make it big with one of my art forms it would have to be a complete fluke. I really oppose the idea of school for art, it just seems restrictive. I oppose the idea of school in general. I just never liked feeling obligated to do something (even if i've always done fairly good in school) I feel you should persue what your passionate about. So now I'm looking to get in to the automotive industry. It's probably the only other passion I have and plan to pursue.
Did I mention I like to write?
