    considering a new daily driver

Some background info before hand. I was military bound but found out i now need college credits before i am eligible, so, march 13th, i start college at sjvc. With that comes grants and loans in addition to refunds. Because i want to continue the build on my four door, i am considering getting a car as a daily driver. Really im looking for something stock that was well taken care of in a decent price range. So, i ask you all this. Because i am mostly interested in another cb, i am looking for one of them but also considering a new model car, what would you go with and why? Also if anyone has insight as to how to tell if its had a hard life or not that would be greatly appreciated. Also, I have a budget of ballpark 2400-3400.

It was a real slap in the face because i had stayed away from weed which all my friends smoked and still do and didnt drink and party all through school just for this reason and i had it in my head id get that signing bonus and mob straight to the dealership and get a 2012 civic si. Its what ever though shit happens

Daily driver for that price range?

                    Corolla.

Why, because then you won't be tempted to modify it and it should be dead reliable. It's pointless to buy a second car as a daily driver if it's anything but basic and practical. That way you can use any spare money you have towards whatever project vehicle you're working on.

Will it be the best driving experience, no, but it will do the job. If you can't deal with having something quite so bland just use the money to fix your Accord and make it a good reliable daily driver and just run with it.

I agree with the anti-BMW sentiments. Hell, I'm looking to buy a used car for about $15,000, and I won't even go near the M3s that I find in that range! I want one, but I don't want to fix one. For the price you're looking, you're going to find one that's either really beat, or really old (and hopefully maintained... though even well maintained, old will break.)

I agree with the Corolla, or any car similar. The more boring the car, the less likely you'll want to modify it. The more reliable the car, the less money you'll waste on fixing it. This isn't going to be the car you want to dump all your money into!

Corolla is ideal. Civic is good, though it's a mod temptation for someone with Honda-modding experience already. Sentras can be good. Honestly, as much as people rag on them, a well-maintained Neon, Focus, or Cavalier might not let you down. They're not the greatest cars, but they DO last when they're not terribly neglected. You could probably find a newer, nicer model American car than you will a Japanese car, simply because used Japanese cars tend to command higher prices due to greater perceived reliability.
Another option is an old Volvo. The turbo 740 and 940 models are actually pretty fun, and very well built. Replacement parts aren't quite Honda prices, but they're not obscene, either. I'd much rather fix a Volvo than a BMW.

Another option, not quite as good (but maybe more appealing), is to find a car that you think would be fun... as long as you can refrain from modifying it. An old Mustang, a Miata (I always wanted one myself),
A little combination of both: B13 Sentra SE-R would be fun. An older Lexus ES is essentially a camry, but you'll still be able to say you own a Lexus.

well i just checked/built one on Honda.com. A Fit with the sports package, manual transmission, and some extra things comes out to be 18K

They do have a point BMWs will rape your wallet if you don't take care of them but I commonly find 5 series at the junkyard so I can always get parts

And my dad owned 3 bmws at one time...loved them all but they were expensive as fuck to maintain!

                          1991 325i coupe

                          2003 745li

^^^ Those were his bimmers...They are fun but yeaaaa if you are on a tight budget maybe stick to an economy car, not luxury

$15,200 is what I paid for my Fit. But I want something with luxury and power, not just another wheezy beater. I'll still have the fit (it's nearly paid off now), but I'll be getting a CTS-V as well (the goal is an 06-07 black on black) I've considered the M3 or S4, but they'd have high mileage for the price I want to pay, and that means expensive repairs are right around the corner. I don't care to get something cheaper that's not as "fancy", such as a GTO, Mustang, Evo, STi, etc... even though I could get comparable performance (or better) for a better price... the prestige of a luxury brand that even someone that doesn't care about cars will appreciate is one of the Cadillac's selling points to me. The CTS-V will share many components with the base CTS, which are a dime a dozen... and all the fancy parts will have very much in common with all the other RWD GM V8s... Camarobird, GTO, Corvette (not that sourcing Vette parts would be cheap!) That's my reason for choosing the CTS-V.

Yeah, as nice as those cars are, with his budget he'd end up with a beater. Used premium brands are a definite risk, ESPECIALLY on a budget! Lexus, Infiniti, Acura, or Lincoln would be better options in the luxury route, because many of those cars share quite a few things in common with cars in the non-luxury branches of the companies.

I get what you all are saying. Thats exactly what im trying not to do. IF I get a mod tempting car itll be for a future project and deev after having a mustang im never getting one again, at least not another 4 banger for as cheap as i paid for mine that car was a money pit. A volvo actually would not be bad at al. and keepinitclean i feel you on the whole two of the same car bu ive always wanted a cb coupe or wagon i just happened to end up with a four door lol and the cost of maintenance on a bmw would not be practical when adding in the cost of gas insurance and student loan payments. I may get a civic maybe another cb, but it ultimately comes down to whats available in that price range, condtion how well it was maintained, and gas mileage is a biggie. A corolla would actually be perfect truth be told
