I'm looking to buy a portable solar panel charger for electronics (iphone, psp, etc) and have seen different mAH ratings. I'm assuming this is how much energy it absorbs and stores. But i see different output ratings some at 500 some 1000. So am I right in assuming the higher output the faster the charge on the electronic device?

mAh = milliamp-hours; the measure of a battery’s energy storage capacity. It's the current in milliamps (mA) that can be drawn from the battery multiplied by time, in hours, that the battery will last at that current. For example a 1,000 mAh battery could supply 1,000 mA for 1 hour. Or 100 mA for 10 hours. If the solar charger has a mAh rating, then it more than likely has an internal battery.
What you want is a charger with a mAh rating that is equal to or greater than the mAh rating of your device. That way a full charge in the charger will fully charge your device. However if you want to charge the device by having the panel sitting in sun then the mAh rating of the panel’s battery is irrelevent, because energy is going straight into your device.
Also, make sure the voltage output of the charger(panel) is the same as the input voltage of your device(s). The only way you can damage something with a solar charger is if you set the voltage too high.
