    Y U No Love Giants?!?

    The Superbowl.
    They won it.

Let's hear it for the Giants.

What's up with the enormous lack of love? Everyone hyped the shit out of the Patriots and when they won a few years back, it was "OMGWTFBBQTHEYWON!!!!11!!"

The Giants were the underdogs and they won. Well, the Giants beat the Pats earlier this season and it was a fluke or some other "_Insert BS excuse here_".

Now that the Giants won, I havent heard word one. Before the game everyone was talking about the Pats winning. After the game, NO ONE was talking about the Giants winning -OR- the Pats losing. I bet a lot of people lost a lot of money on that game.

My point though, is that everyone hyped the Pats. They lost to the Giants last time in a bowl, they lost earlier in the season and they lost this bowl.

Yet people are still treating the Giants like underdogs. Like, "Oh, the Giants won? Eh." Wtf is that?!?

            Where's the love? Lol.

most of my disdain with the giants comes with eli manning.

the mannings do a huge amount of things in the community around here, between archie and the 3 brothers and i have a lot of respect for that.

that being said, eli puts himself as an elite qb, and its hard to argue, the guy now has 2 sb wins: i dont feel this way (with him or ben roethlisberger). in my mind he will never be what his brother is/was (depending on if he comes back), or what the other top few qbs are (brees, rodgers, brady, rivers)

he gets extremely hot and extremely cold, its worked out well for them the past few years , because the 2 important years for eli 07 and this year, he came on really hot at the end of the season and they did a phenomenal job competing and getting to the end.

this year i wasnt really pulling for anybody, but in 07 i really felt that new england put a team together that was worth history, and i dont think that very often, so i guess in that aspect i was kinda hoping new england would pull the victory out as some kind of redemption.

but giants had a good year. any year that eli ends hot will result in the giants making a good run because they have a great defense and some of the best young receivers in the game. any year that eli ends cold will end up like every other season he's played.

Eli and Big Ben aren't elite yet they have both won multiple Super Bowls? Yet Rivers is elite?

I definitely would consider Eli to be an elite QB. He has two rings and two Super Bowl MVPs. That's as much as Brees, Rodgers, and Rivers have combined.

Anyhow I was rooting for the Giants and am glad they won however I would like to see some new teams in the Super Bowl next year.

thats fine, i usually look at consistency of said qb. rivers fell off last year, thats very true. but rivers the rest of his career has been extremely consistent. and drew brees, rodgers, brady, and manning have been models of consistency.

manning runs an offense an offensive system so complex that its nearly impossible for any other qb to come into his system and do what he does. even if he only gets 1 superbowl, in my opinion he will still be one of the best ot ever play the game.

roeth and eli both played on side of extremely good defenses and with a really good running game.

brad johson and trent dilfer both have as many superbowls as brees and peyton, yet you dont see them getting tossed into the same name basket with elite qbs?

I agree that Peyton, Brady, Brees, and Rodgers are all elite. However you have to look at what the Big Ben and Eli have both done in final drives of their Super Bowl wins.

If you don't have a good defense you won't win a Super Bowl, case in point the Saints and Packers this year. Both had AMAZING offenses but lacked defensively.

Johnson and Dilfer both had ridiculous defenses. In both those Super Bowl wins it was the defense that won both of them, not the QB. This was also when there weren't so many penalties called against the defense.

pats and colts have both done it.

saints and packers both played extremely good defense in the playoffs and actually for a decent portion of the year. their overall defense was very lacking in stats, but pack played very well on turnovers, and the saints very well in redzone scoring defense.

saints loss to san fran can be majorly contributed to turnovers and overall ball control, which is somwhat san fran take aways, but one of the most important turnovers was a giveaway, and the forward progression call on the 49ers fumble was questionable...

packers can be contributed to a few key mishaps on offense, poor receiving etc.

not saying that the saints or pack should have, or would have won their games against ny/san fran either way as both teams played lights out in those games, but they were contributors to the downing of both teams..
