ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm what.... What does being a lease have to do with being worried about it... Its not magic... If something happens to it you NEED to fix it... Either just damage or stolen.. .You need to either pay out of pocket or go though insurance to fix it...

Leasing is not in GENERAL not the soundest financial idea... The only time leasing makes sense is when you have a business, it makes it easy to write off the automotive expenses..

    Facts
Only 23.5 percent of millionaires own a new car
More than 80% of millionaires purchase, versus lease their vehicles.

AKA.. Stop being a dumbass... If you want a newer car BUY a two or three year old car.

Well, I guess I wouldn't worry about the Integra so much if it was 100% stock and I didn't put so much time into it. I think that is probably why I am worried. Constantly thinking that it will get scratched/dented/broken into/etc.

I guess it would be nice to have something that is 100% stock and not an easy target... but not a Prius or anything boring... because then I won't wanna drive it at all.

The smartest thing financially would be to just get an alarm, drive my car and stop being retarded I guess. But I doubt that will happen.

I assume you've had issues with theft/vandalism in the past, right? If not, I'd say just get theft coverage and a good alarm system. And it's probably overdoing it but a hidden killswitch and some barriers between the locking mechanisms and anything else wouldn't hurt either.

            2009 WRX - avg price through dealer = 23K :
            2K down + 21K financed + 1.6K tax + 1.9K interest - 12K(what it can be sold for in 3.5yrs) = $14,500 total expenses to own a WRX for 3.5 years

            2012 WRX lease :
            2K down + 12.6K monthly payments for 3.5yrs = $14,600 total expenses to lease a WRX for 3.5 years

            What am I missing?

It is more psychological than anything else. If I own a car, I tend to throw money at it. When I throw money at it, I realize that if it gets totaled or shit gets stolen out of it, I am out all that money I put into it + all the time I put into it. When I start thinking about that, I stop driving the car and then it just sits.

what he is saying you are basically throwing away your money. you may get an older wrx but you get to keep it. you still have to pay full coverage on both vehicles and pay roughly the same amount per month...why not just keep the car instead? although i think you get the option to after the lease

ive had some issues with random dents and scratches appearing on my car after being parked in public parking lots. and some of my friends has issues with their cars broken into and interior being stripped of anything that can be sold.
so I'm just always worried about that

                well no,
your argument is that I get to keep the car in 4 years if I buy it
my argument is that with a lease my payments would be 300 instead of 600 and the difference in the monthly payments adds up to nearly what the car will be worth in 4 years.

If you have had issues with your car being vandalized, leasing is a bad option as they expect you to return the car in mint condition and will force you to pay for those cosmetic issues.

Also, what's your annual mileage? A lot of leases these days are becoming increasingly capped as far as annual miles.

WRXs are far from bulletproof. They are decent cars, but it's easy enough to break a transmission. Plus last I checked the stock tune was still garbage, so you have that working against you. It's not an issue if you're buying the car, but I would never start modding a leased car.

Lease a Camry SE...they're into the 14s these days in the quarter and the beige factor should keep anything from happening to it.

Having two "fun" cars is pointless imho. If you're going to own two vehicles, have a clear goal for what each one is for.

eh my annual mileage has been pretty low lately.. definitely under 10K

I just want a fun car that I can drive daily and not worry about but I see your point.

idk about the Camry, I would rather go for the Accord v6 coupe. The WRX is more fun though since this car is going to be stock.

you are asking the wrong forum for leasing advice, can't really blame them though cause they only thinking about their own situation and not yours

i can tell you that with leasing you can get a more expensive car with less money. it is not a bad option if you can get a good deal. nothing wrong with renting, at the end just drop off your keys and leave instead of having to find a seller and go through all the hassle. of course, since it is not officially yours you have to follow the company's restrictions

a financially sound advice would be to buy/lease the most affordable/reliable new car you can afford than to buy used. due to convenience, time and repair. unless one has a lot of time for repair, or doesn't make much...

Idk about the Camry neing fun but i like them. I own an 07 hybrid and a 10 4cyl. I also told two people about my car and they both went and bought one (both 2011 one 4cyl and one 4cyl se) and they love them.

your money bro, do what you want. but spending that much money on a car you arent keeping sounds dumb to me. and i was just showing an option.

my point isnt *just* to go out and buy a mercedes instead. the point is that you can get a much nicer car for much, much less on the used market from the late 90s/early 00s from within your budget, and you dont have to give it back after 2 years. your original post said nothing about it being fun, so thats where i went, to a luxury car.

there are hosts of cars from 240s, to b/k/h swapped civics, preludes, to gc model imprezas, to lexus 300 cars (SC, GS, or a newer IS), sentra ser's. the list goes on and on. and the fact that youre buying that car outright vs renting it for 2-3 years seems like a much better investment. and those cars will all cost you less on the insurance side of the bill as well.

                                Leasing = renting.

Personally, I don't like the idea of paying every month for a car that I won't own after a few years.
Of course, a car is a bad investment anyway. A 3 year lease for a WRX, with the addition of the $2000 at signing, will end up being about $12,000 by the end of the term, plus any mileage or damage penalties. Not too bad for a car that costs nearly $30,000.
If you bought the car and traded it in after 3 years, you'd probably lose far more.

Of course, a lease has to remain stock (or you risk seriously violating the lease agreement... and I wouldn't doubt that they have a no-mod clause in a performance car lease agreement!)

I've considered it. I'll be buying a 1st gen CTS-V soon, and I've contemplated leasing a 2nd gen, as they're better looking, and they have an extra 156hp under the hood! The lease wasn't practical to me, though... and I don't think I'd ever feel like it was MY car. That's important to me.
