i LOVE cressidas, and the 5m (110bhp on the single cam, 150bhp on the dual) /7m (190 bhp) is a fairly peppy motor stock, but not exactly to the point of having fun in a 3500lb car, although i like your style

Not missing the fun at all. you dont need tons of power to drift. 7m is MORE that enough to do it. and J swaps are easy, and N/A 2j's aren't uncommon for cheap.

This is where disposable comes in. Gut it completely and lose lots of weight.
Do 100mph and early enter a large bank at a track with big walls. 3rd gear pedal down and wheel at full lock. Nothing could be more fun. And if you hit the wall who cares?

Take the top down and they're fun even to just ride in. My friend's dad has a Sahara Edition. Such a cool little truck. We got a laugh out of the pretty lady jogging on the side of the road as we rolled through bumping "Jizzed In My Pants."

Okay, take "disposable" out of the equation and I'd reeeeaally love to restore one of these for cruising around. Maybe swap in an RB25 (no turbo), but without the intention of building it up much. Just a reliable, yet uber cool, runaround. They're pretty cheap in the crappy condition these Zs are usually found in.

That... kinda defeats the whole purpose of this thread. It's not about a car to pick up and modify, restore, etc... It's about what you think would be most fun as a "buy it as it is and drive it into the ground" beater.

3rd gen Fbody, W body's, SVO fox, 5.0 fox, SHO taurus, SC tbird etc etc...... i could easily name 50 80-90's cars that would be an enjoyable beater for the price range, conditions would vary ofcourse. I couldn't choose just one i'd create a list track them down and go test drive them all until i found one i really enjoyed.

But... but... it's cheap. And fun. And the car enthusiast in me doesn't know the meaning of the term "beater." There's no room for me to buy a nice car, treat it without respect, and simply throw it away like some cheap whore.

True... that's why this is a hypothetical situation! I know I'd get attached as well. Hell, I have my 86 Accord in my driveway that I still have yet to drive. it's an eyesore... but it's still there. But in my dreams, I can get a car, abuse it, and ditch it without a care in the world.
