Driving test (for a license)

Well 2moro at 1:15 I'm going to take my driving test and was wondering about how long is it and any tips? I know like look over ur shoulder, check ur mirrors and 10 & 2. Also I want to hear some stories of ur experiences like how many times it took, someone (feel free to say ur name) was telling me how he had to take it twice to get it since he got a speeding ticket and the week he got his license he drove to Florida with his family. So yeah feel free to share ur stories here and maybe give some tips too!

You got it. Its mainly common sense just drive like you have a cop in the passenger seat(which is literally the truth). I did excellent on mine with points taken off for incorrect distance on turn signals but it wasnt that big of a deal.

Okay that actually makes sense to think of it that way, how often do u check ur mirrors? I heard it should be every 12 seconds but my friend failed for not checking them enough when he did that.

See i knew it. i keep telling him he needs to turn his head and look over his shoulder when backing up but he insists on just using the mirror *facepalm*

You should know how to park parallel also reverse parking. Also one tip. Ones you start going through a street; makes sure you see the SIGNS of whats the mph on the current street you driving on. I think youtube has videos of dmv driving tests.

well i took a drivers education class instead of just taking a test at the dmv but during my driving test i hit a parked car and still got my license. i only had to do it once (no retake on the driving test) the instructor with me also thought i would miss the car. i only just barely brushed it. i think we looked at it and there wasn't a mark (two white cars brushing against each other)

They don't make u parallel park anymore, haha and yeah putting ur hand on the arm rest while u back up.

I did a practice test with my driving instructor from driver's ed so I can tell you what we did. First of all use your signals for everything! If you are leaving a parking spot, use signals, going into a parking spot, use signals. We left the parking lot and headed for main street, he told me to pull over and secure my car for up hill parking(handbrake, park, turn wheel so if car goes down the wheel gets stuck on the curb), then we took off and went into a residential area where he had me do a 3 point turn, we headed back toward the DMV and he made me parallel park behind a car(no car behind me just in front of me). Then I pulled out into traffic and went back to the DMV and he told me to properly secure my car. All that lasted 10 minutes.

I don't know about Cali, but here in Mass they don't use a state trooper any more, it's a regular person now. Also Here in Mass they have to do 3 tests in 1 hour so each test is only like 10 minutes long. Make sure you bring a car that you know will pass inspection(ALL lights working, parking brake in the center of car(not down where you kick), and all mirrors in working order.) Also you must know your hand signals(Straight up is right, straight out is left, straight down is stopping or slow down). Also stop BEFORE the white strip at lights or signs and do not block any crosswalks for any amount of time! If you see someone crossing and you can stop safely to let them cross, do it. The less time you spend driving the actual car, the easier the test is!

Be calm during the test. Remember that the person scoring you is no better than you and that he is human as well. Worst thing to have tomorrow will be stress! Pay attention to the road and pretend like he is not there!

passed both written and drive test first try, don't remember what I got because it was 10 years ago, but I know I got points docked because didn't park correctly pulling out of an alley lol

Lol the behind the wheel training taught me that too, pretty much just reminded me some things I forgot so thank you!! Haha and yeah I think I just need to be calm when I drive and I'll be good, thanks and good luck when u go for ur license!!

My buddy failed the first time because he ran a red light.....

Lol one of mine had to reschedule 4 times cuz first time, car was lowered so they said no. Second time, lifted truck, over 38 inches so they said no. Third time blinker and tail light bulbs burnt on the way there. Finally on the fourth time he got a rental car but had insurance problems but it got settled. Lol so pretty much just bring a stock, automatic car. Haha
