    Questions on Next Vehicle Purchase

Hey guys, im looking to buy a new (to me) truck. Im a Ford guy, but i like the 97-07 silverados as well. Im looking to spend no more than 8 grand. Im comparing 99-03 f150's and 97-07 silverados. Just looking to see your guys opinions on these two trucks (i know this is a honda forums, but i trust u guys more than other people). So, opinions, known problems with them, recalls etc. thanks guys!

with my experience with Fords i would rather go with the Chevy. every Ford that my family has ever owned was garbage but that's just me.
1997 Ford Explorer V-6 AT (what a piece of junk)
1993 Nissan Sentra M/T (front end damage, off road for now)
    1999 Mercury Mountaineer V-8 A/T - RIP (rolled: totaled)
1992 Honda Accord A/T EX - RIP (transmission shot: sold to junkyard)

I would pick ford over any domestic, I've had a few dodge's and I've had many problems with the ones I've had. Gm the way they built their cars I think is stupid, I hate working on them. The few fords I had have worked out for me.

Ford's current offerings are top notch... but 10-15 years ago, Ford was producing some pretty lousy vehicles. Unfortunately, so were GM, and Chrysler had some major duds as well. American trucks tend to be better than their cars... but they're still only so-so in many ways.

The Japanese offerings are decent, but I believe there are some serious rust issues with Nissans and Toyotas of those years. New England winters aren't kind to Japanese trucks.

I hear that on certain silverados if u go over 105 mph (hopefully u wouldn't anyways) but there drivetrain breaks and complete destroys the car. But like I said that's just what I heard so just lettin u know if u haven't looked into it.

I dont know about the lightning engine, but yes they had a supercharged triton V8. its a beast I love those.

if you can find a lightning that hasnt been abused, I'd buy that.

Stay away from a 94-00 chevy if its a 1500 or smaller, the 4l60E transmission is junk..the 2500-3500 trucks have a 4l80e which holds up 100000x better

my 1500 tranny died with only 125k on the truck, and i had the 305 ( smallest v-8 offered)

Click it.... You know you wanna

i got my toyota pickup but its too light duty and its also lifted 5" on 33's so towing wouldnt be very ideal.

id look at high mileage tundras or F250's with the 5.4 triton. i like tundras because thier back window rolls down but they have timing belts.
                          I <3 G60.

0.5mm Oversized Stainless valves and bronze guides available. Pm me please.

and you replace them every 90k which isnt bad. i don't rack too many miles on my vehicles either.
