Goverment hiding things from us?

Today in my shop related class, we were talking about weird things in this world. The teacher was talking about the hydrogen cars and all other stuff. I said that I would only be impressed if I could fill my tank with my garden hose. He proceeded to say that when he was younger, there was a guy who produced an engine that produced about 400 hp, got about 100 miles to the gallon, and ran on water! Oh and the best part was, it was smaller than a D15 from a Civic!! The dumbest thing he did, was put it in a Pontiac Fiero! Any way, he thought he would become a rich man, and called GM to come look at his invention. Apparently, they showed up with a mobile car crusher and crushed his car right in front of him. The man was smart enough to remove the engine before they came, so they basically just crushed a regular Fiero. When GM found out he still had the motor. The guy went missing apparently....

Has anyone ever hear of this? If this is true it would be crazy!!

lol I guess without the rest of the convo, this makes absolutely no sense. We were also talking about stuff such as "ufo" sightings, how egyptians moved huge boulders, how people 1200 years ago got huge bolders across mountains, precisely cut them and welded them together. Also pirates from the middle east had a way of making sea water flammable, but the recipe was "lost". I'm sure the government has a lot to do with hiding things from us.

well UFo or any military stuff related, yea they will hide.

as for ancient technology, that really has been lost to time. try going to a random field...lets say any desert near the Nile river. now in that large are, you have to be lucky enough to find, lets say, a stone wall. from there it takes years to excavate. then so happening to come across a parchment made from a papyrus that hasnt been eaten by bugs, burned in a fire, or just turned to dust. then having to decipher and read whats written on it whether it be in Hieroglyphics, Greek, or Sanskrit languages. most of the info we know about ancient technology is based off of pictures found in temples. no writing, just pictures. it doesnt help that Egyptologists are pig headed as well. find any scrap of evidence which may change Egypt's history and they will turn it down instantly. its how they are

now of course we know a lot more about Greek and roman tech due to books that werent destroyed, art, pictures, actual technology, etc.

but like i said, the government would probably hide anything from, lets say, the mid to 1800s to early 1900s to now and the beyond lol. i dont really blame them sometimes. we would really get chaotic if we found out aliens were real and they invented religion for example. it would crush SO MANY people and countries.
