    C is definitely the answer.

Just for the simple fact that it is the LIGHTEST load of all of them.

You can say your going to hold up in a cave for 3 years but what if you can't find one?

Even better, if you do find one, when you have to go out you want to be quick....a fucking sniper rifle or axe makes you not quick lol.

Snipers don't need to be quick, they bury themselves and become one with the surroundings....so to adequately use that weapon you would need to make use of good spots and like Matt said, it would be hard in jungle and good luck keeping it in good working cond for 3 years.

The axe can be useful but i doubt youll be cutting down fucking trees so a machete can do what the axe can.

    Water purifying pills???

If this island is uninhabited from humans then that means the RUNNING water should be clean enough to drink without the pills.

Remember always try to get as upstream as you can to try and avoid dead animals/crap in the water.

Everyone would always jump at the medikit....and while it is useful there are things naturally that can be swapped in place of that kit....and besides unless you find that sweet cave, youll be lugging that fucking kit everywhere lol.

Kind of suprised that people are shooting out the rope....YES there are vines and ways to make rope but one of the golden rules of serious hiking/trail walking is having durable rope with you....you don't ONLY need it for climbing....a good solid rope goes ALONG way in the outdoors for 100s of uses.(like hanging a kill up so other animals cannot get it) Come on guys lol.

And finally the SAS handbook will also have 1000s of good tips and its a fucking book so its light and anything not useful in it can be used for TP or firepaper ROFL.

    C all day.

most jungles have rivers and streams with moving water. you can also purify water by digging a feet or so away from the bank. the sand acts as a filter. also since it is a jungle, rain is a god send of fresh water! purification pills are rendered useless unless you are in a cave

the axe is alright but in no way good for jungle environments! ever tried swinging an axe in a dense jungle? not easy as it seems! machete or knife all the way!

i honestly dont care for the gun. but its in there and i said what i would do with it lol.

the jungle humidity is a killer and will make fire starting a hassle but still possible. you can easily find bamboo shoots (old) and scrape shavings from it and use the bamboo itself as a fire starter. no matter how wet a tree is, the center is 90% of the time dry!

the rope would only be useful if its made from nylon! typical hemp rope just wont cut it (they are tough dont get me wrong lol)! the water proofing and strength of the nylon is amazing!

we all seem to forget the Dino factor. the SAS book can at least show some makeshift defenses and traps.

man this really is a hard one!

When have you swung an axe in the jungle?

Fresh trees are wet inside, that's why you need to cure firewood for a year first.

Not boiling or purifying water is a gamble. Would prob work fine for a while but if you get sick once you could die.

puerto rico. well, more like a rain forest lol.

not all trees. some dry wood can be procured by stripping only a few layers of bark. you also forget that dry wood can be found by hacking away the wet wood of fallen trees until dry wood is found beneath.

using an axe in dense jungle is useless. try hacking cutting vines, springy branches, cane, or dense grasses/bush. its only good for chopping down and maybe some sort of defense against them Dinos!

the jungle and rain forests arent easy to start fires in, but its not exactly rocket science either. i admit, the technique i mentioned for 'filtering" water is usually used in forests. but it does work depending on how stagnant the pool of water is. usually the rule is to walk a few few back and dig again. check for water color and there ya go. sand is a great filter! can also use some bamboo, sand, grasses, and if on hand some charcoal to filter the water. but i guess if you have charcoal you have a way of making fire lol. just take a live bamboo, cut a hole in it, empty it, and use it as a cooking pot

too bad i cant replace the knife with a machete .

edit: forgot to mention that the lightest load is option B. the scenario doesnt say we'll have backpacks or anything. the rope an machete ok in weight, but the SAS handbook is fat as hell. tat least the one i have is. and lugging that thing around while climbing, chopping ,etc would just be a hassle! Option A is the heaviest :/

                    C.

MACHETE is the most useful tool it's a weapon, you can use it to clear paths in the dense jungle and it can pretty much do anything a knife can.

rope I wouldn't know what to do with but it could come in handy. and it's not hard to carry

handbook is another gold mine. It will teach you how to McGuiver the shit out of EVERYTHING rendering other options pretty much useless. And who cares if it will disintegrate in a month because of weather? What are you going to do for fun in the first month? The smart thing would be to memorize everything in it. Knowledge in that situation is worth a heck of a lot more than a rifle or some pills.

There are a billion ways to die in that situation, dinos, bugs, bacteria, infection, or any sort of accidental fall, udercooked meat or whatever. Besides chances are none of those items will even make it past a year or two. Then what? I would rather read the shit out of that book ,become a jungle sav and take my chances that way because a fish will fill you for a night but knowing how to fish will feed you forever.
That way you wont need to carry it you will have the knowledge in you.

I'd say screw all 3 choices... I'd just head straight for Jeff Goldblum, and stick right next to him. You know he survives!

If you purify the water, it is not pure.

Pure comes from the ground with no alterations or contamination.

Yes that is hard to find in most places, but on an uninhabited island, should be easy.

Which is why it would be wise to find a nice spot upstream.

Wrong, the purest form of water is distilled.
